Barbara Tillett
Barbara Ann Barnett Tillett (born 1946) is a librarian and library scholar known for her work on authority control and bibliographic data modeling. Library of Congress Tillett began working at the Library of Congress in 1994. As director of the Library's Integrated Library System (ILS) Program from August 1997 through July 2001, Tillett undertook the massive task of leading the selection and implementation of the Library of Congress' first Integrated Library System. A library press release referred to the project as the "largest single information technology project in the Library's history." Tillett served as chief of the Library's Cataloging Policy & Support Office, which sometimes put her into conflict with Sanford Berman's subject heading activism. Association For Library Collections And Technical Services
The Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) was a division of the American Library Association (ALA) dedicated to the areas of technical services (acquisitions, cataloging and classification, and continuing resources), collection management and development, and preservation and reformatting. ALCTS membership represented over forty countries and included librarians, library support staff, students of library and information science, and commercial vendors whose professional interests lay in these areas of practice. Ross Atkinson
Ross W. Atkinson (1945 – March 8, 2006) was an American librarian and scholar. Atkinson worked at Northwestern University from 1977 until 1983 when he left to become an assistant university librarian for collection development at the University of Iowa. In 1988, he moved to Cornell University where he was an associate librarian for collections until his death. Atkinson was named the 2003 Academic/Research Librarian of the Year by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), a division of the American Library Association (ALA). Margaret Mann (librarian)
Margaret Mann (April 9, 1873 – August 22, 1960) was a noted librarian and teacher who dominated the field of cataloging for almost fifty years. The bulk of her career was spent as a professor at the University of Michigan. She was hired as one of the first three full-time faculty members in the department of library science at Michigan in 1926 and retired in 1938. In 1999, ''American Libraries'' named her one of the "100 Most Important Leaders We Had in the 20th Century". Biography She was born on 1873 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. While Margaret was known throughout her career for her breadth of knowledge and contributions to academia, it is worthy to mention that she never formally achieved more than a high school diploma. Resource Description and Access (RDA) is a standard for descriptive cataloging initially released in June 2010, providing instructions and guidelines on formulating bibliographic data.
