Barbara O'Brien (politician)
Barbara O'Brien (born April 18, 1950) was the Lieutenant Governor of Colorado, 47th Lieutenant Governor of Colorado from 2007 to 2011. She is a member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party. She is currently serving her second 4-year term as an elected member of the board of Denver Public Schools. Political career Lieutenant Governor of Colorado She was chosen as running mate by Bill Ritter, the Democratic candidate for Governor of Colorado in the 2006 election. The Ritter/O'Brien ticket won with 57% of the vote. As lieutenant governor she made education her signature issue. Ritter chose not to run for re-election in 2010, and O'Brien also stepped down at the end of her term. Joseph A. Garcia (born March 21, 1957) is an American lawyer and politician. He served as the 48th Lieutenant Governor of Colorado from January 2011 to May 2016. Early life, education and career Joseph A. Garcia was born on March 21, 1957, in Lafayette, Indiana. He attended Austin E. Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, Alaska from 1973 to 1974 and graduated from T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia in 1975. Bill Ritter
August William Ritter Jr. (born September 6, 1956) is an American politician and lawyer who served as the 41st Governor of Colorado from 2007 to 2011. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the district attorney for Denver before his election to the governorship in 2006. Ritter was the first Colorado-born person to be elected as Governor of Colorado since 1975, as well as being the first Democratic officeholder in 50 years to serve with a Democratic majority in the Colorado General Assembly. Ritter did not run for a second term in 2010. Ritter announced that he would not run for a second term due to family reasons.
