Barbara Edmonds
Barbara Rachael Fati Palepa Edmonds is a New Zealand politician and Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives for the Labour Party. Early life and career Edmonds' parents came to New Zealand from Western Samoa in 1978. She was also raised by her stepmother after her mother died when she was 4 years old. She was born in North Shore, Auckland and attended Carmel College. Her school was next door to North Shore Hospital where members of her family were working in the kitchen, laundry and as cleaners. She married and had eight children. Edmonds was a parent elected member of the Board of Trustees of Mana College. Edmonds is a specialist tax lawyer, and before entering Parliament, worked in both the private and public sectors. In 2016, she was seconded from Inland Revenue to work as a private secretary to Michael Woodhouse and Judith Collins, as Ministers of Revenue. Kris Faafoi
Kristopher John Faafoi (born 23 June 1976) is a former New Zealand Labour Party politician. He became the Member of Parliament for the Mana electorate in 2010. He did not contest the seat as an electorate MP in 2020 but continued as a list MP. He held a number of ministerial portfolios in the Sixth Labour Government from 2017, until he announced his retirement from politics in June 2022. Early life Faafoi's parents originate from the Tokelau atoll of Fakaofo. He grew up in Christchurch. His father was sent to New Zealand to study at secondary school, and later became a primary-school teacher. His mother came to New Zealand as part of a repatriation scheme, and later worked in a factory. 2020 New Zealand General Election
The 2020 New Zealand general election was held on Saturday 17 October 2020 to determine the composition of the 53rd parliament. Voters elected 120 members to the House of Representatives, 72 from single-member electorates and 48 from closed party lists. Two referendums, one on the personal use of cannabis and one on euthanasia, were also held on the same day. Official results of the election and referendums were released on 6 November.
