Barbara Brecht-Schall
Barbara Brecht-Schall (28 October 1930 – 31 August 2015) was a German actress. Born Barbara Marie Brecht in Berlin to Bertolt Brecht and Helene Weigel, she had three siblings, a full brother Stefan, a half-brother Frank Banholzer and a half-sister Hanne Hiob. Starting in 1933, her family moved around Europe to avoid the Nazi regime. They eventually arrived in Los Angeles, but left America in 1947 shortly after Bertolt Brecht testified in front of the House Committee on Un-American Activities. Her father established the Berliner Ensemble in 1949, a theatre company in which she also acted. Brecht later married Ekkehard Schall, with whom she had two daughters, Johanna Schall and Jenny Schall-Dizdari. Barbara Brecht-Schall died in Berlin on 31 August 2015, aged 84. ''Berlin, Schoenhauser Corner'' (german: Berlin – Ecke Schönhauser…) is an East Germany, East German crime film directed by Gerhard Klein. It was released in 1957. Plot summary Dieter, Angela, Kohle and Karl-Heinz are part of a group of Halbstarke, delinquent youths who prowl Schönhauser Allee, in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg. The four, each with their troubled life, are often in trouble with the police. Karl-Heinz steals an identity document and uses it to enter West Berlin, where he murders a man while committing armed robbery. The police suspect that his friends assisted him. When he returns, Kohle and Dieter confront Karl-Heinz about an unpaid debt; he threatens them both with a pistol, and Kohle knocks him unconscious. Ekkehard Schall
Ekkehard Schall (29 May 1930 in Magdeburg – 3 September 2005 in Berlin) was a German stage and screen actor/director. He was one of the best-known interpreters of Brecht's works and together with Helene Weigel a member of the Berliner Ensemble. Life Schall's first went on stage in 1947 in Magdeburg. After engagements in Frankfurt (Oder) ( Stadttheater Frankfurt (Oder)) and on the Neuen Bühne in Berlin, Bertolt Brecht hired him in 1952 as part of the Berliner Ensemble. Schall played here till 1995, for 14 years as intendant. He played more than 60 roles, for example, ''Ui'' in Brecht's ''Der aufhaltsame Aufstieg des Arturo Ui'' more than 500 times. Schall was honored in 1959 with the Kunstpreis der DDR, in 1962 and 1979 with the Nationalpreis der DDR. He was married to Brecht's daughter Barbara Brecht-Schall and is the father of actress Johanna Schall.
