Bankim Puraskar
Bankim Puraskar ( bn, বঙ্কিম পুরস্কার, Bankim Memorial Award) is the highest award given by the Government of West Bengal for contribution to Bengali fiction. The award was instituted in 1975 in memory of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, a famous Bengali novelist of the 19th century. It has been brought under the aegis of Paschimbanga Bangla Akademi, functioning under the Department of Information & Cultural Affairs, in 2003. The award is handed over by the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Rabisankar Bal
Rabisankar Bal (1962–2017) was an Indian writer in the Bengali language, Bengali-language. He lived in Kolkata, and was a journalist by profession. He published more than twenty books in a range of genres including novels, short stories, poetry and essays. He is best known for novels such as ''Dozakhnama'' (Conversations in Hell) and ''Aynajibon'' (A Mirrored Life), both of which have been translated into English by Arunava Sinha. He is regarded as a major voice in contemporary Bengali literature and won a number of prizes for his work. Rabisankar Bal penned down 15 novels and 5 short story collection over a period of 30 years. He also translated ''Saadat Hasan Manto's'' work in Bengali. Rabindranath Tagore
Rabindranath Tagore (; bn, রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর; 7 May 1861 – 7 August 1941) was a Bengali polymath who worked as a poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer and painter. Afsar Ahmed
Afsar Amed (also written as Afsar Ahmed, 5 April 1959 – 4 August 2018) was an Indian Bengali writer. He wrote 27 novels and 24 books of other categories. Early life and education Amed was born on 5 April 1959. He pursued his post graduate education from Kolkata University in Bangla. Career During Amed's early life he wrote mainly poems but later he began to write prose. His writing ''Bangali Musalmaner Biyer Gan'' was published in ''Porichoy'' in 1978. Ramkumar Mukhapadhyay
Ramkumar is an Indian actor and film producer known for his work in Kannada cinema. He made his acting debut in Peraala's 1990 action film ''Aavesha''. The same year, he played a brief role in Rajendra Singh Babu's war film ''Muthina Haara'' (1990). He turned producer for the film '' Pandavaru'' (2006), in which he acted as well. Swapnamoy Chakraborty (born 24 August 1951) is a Bengali novelist and essayist. Career Chakraborty was born in Kolkata. He worked in the Land Department under the Government of West Bengal and Akashvani Kolkata as an executive director. He started his writing career with short stories. Nabendu Ghosh
Nabendu Ghosh (27 March 1917 – 15 December 2007) was an Indian author in Bengali literature, and screenwriter. He has written screenplays of classic Bollywood movies like, Sujata, Bandini, Devdas, Majhli Didi, Abhimaan and Teesri Kasam. He has written stories for movies like Baap Beti, Shatranj, Raja Jani. He has also acted briefly in Do Bigha Zameen, ''Teesri Kasam'' and Lukochuri. Later in his career, he directed four movies as well. Tapan Bandopadhyay (born 7 June 1947) is an eminent Bengali novelist. He won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2022 for his novel ''Birbal''.
