Bangladesh Tarikat Federation
The Bangladesh Tarikat Federation ( bn, বাংলাদেশ তরিকত ফেডারেশন; BTF) is a secular-Sufi political party in Bangladesh founded by Syed Najibul Bashar of the Maizbhandaria tariqah and some Pir-Mashaikh of Banglades. Bashar is currently the only MP representing the party in the Jatiya Sangsad. Formation The Bangladesh Tarikat Federation was founded in 2005 following Syed Najibul Bashar's resignation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, as the party had formed an alliance with the Jamaat-e-Islami which Bashar accuses of supporting terrorists. Elections During the 2008 Bangladeshi general elections, the federation had 45 candidates across the country but were unable to gain any seats. Syed Nazibul Bashar Maizvandary
Syed Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari ( bn, সৈয়দ নজিবুল বশর মাইজভাণ্ডারী) is the chairman of Bangladesh Tarikat Federation and the incumbent Member of Parliament of the Chittagong-2 constituency. Early life Maizbhandari was born on 2 December 1959, to a Bengali Muslim family of Syeds belonging to the Maizbhandaria tariqah in Chittagong District, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). He completed his education up until he gained his Higher Secondary School Certificate. Career During the 1991 Bangladeshi general elections, Maizbhandari successfully won a seat in the Chittagong-4 constituency as an Awami League candidate. However, he later became affiliated with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He represented them as a candidate for the same constituency in the 2001 Bangladeshi general election, but did not win a seat. 2008 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 29 December 2008. The two main parties in the election were the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Khaleda Zia, and the Bangladesh Awami League Party, led by Sheikh Hasina. The Bangladesh Awami League Party formed a fourteen-party Grand Alliance including Ershad's Jatiya Party, while the BNP formed a four-party alliance which included the Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami. The election was originally scheduled for January 2007, but it was postponed by a military-controlled caretaker government for an extended period of time. The elections resulted in a landslide victory for the Awami League-led grand alliance, which won 263 seats out 300. The main rival four-party alliance received only 32 seats, with the remaining four going to independent candidates. Daily Janakantha ( bn, দৈনিক জনকণ্ঠ ''Dainik Janakanṭha'' "Daily People's Voice") is a Bengali daily newspaper published from Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is owned by Janakantha Shilpa Paribar (GJSP). This newspaper was first published on 21 February 1993. Mohammad Atikullah Khan Masud was the editor of the newspaper till his death. In 1999 Bangladesh army personnel had to defuse a landmine left at the newspaper office by suspected Islamist militants. Bangladesh has experienced terrorism in the past conducted by a number of different organizations. In the past, both ISIL and other terrorist organizations had claimed to be active in the country however, the Bangladeshi government believes that they mainly operated through local affiliates, before being neutralised by security forces. Qawmi Madrasah ( bn, কওমী মাদ্রাসা, ar, المدرسة القومية, al-Madrasah al-Qawmiyyah) is an adjective describing one of the two major madrasah educational categories in Bangladesh. The Qawmi madrasahs are not regulated by the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board. July 2016 Dhaka Attack
On the night of 1 July 2016, at 21:20 local time, five militants took hostages and opened fire on the Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan Thana. The assailants entered the bakery with crude bombs, machetes, pistols, and took several dozen hostages (foreigners and locals). In the immediate response, while Dhaka Metropolitan Police tried to regain control of the bakery, two police officers were shot dead by the assailants. 29 people were killed, including 20 hostages (17 foreigners and 3 locals), two police officers, five gunmen, and two bakery staff. 2018 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was a landslide victory for the Awami League led by Sheikh Hasina. According to political scientist Ali Riaz, the elections were not free and fair. The BBC News reported that they were marred by violence and allegations of vote rigging. Opposition leader Kamal Hossain rejected the results, calling it "farcical" and demanding fresh elections to be held under a neutral government. The Faraizi movement ( bn, ফরায়েজি আন্দোলন, fôrayeji andolon) was a movement led by Haji Shariatullah in Eastern Bengal to give up un-Islamic practices and act upon their duties as Muslims ( ''farāʾiḍ''). Bangladesh Khilafat Andolan ( bn, বাংলাদেশ খেলাফত আন্দোলন, , Bangladesh Caliphate Movement) is an Islamist political party in Bangladesh, founded by Hafezzi Huzur after the 1981 presidential elections. Hafezzi Huzur had been a presidential candidate in 1981. He came third, scoring 387,215 votes (1.79%). His candidacy was supported by the Islamic Republican Party and Bangladesh Justice Party. The Islami Oikya Jote ( bn, ইসলামী ঐক্য জোট, ''Islami Oikko Joţ'', "Islamic Unity Front") is a political party in Bangladesh and is allied with the Four Party Alliance. Amar MP
Amar MP is a voluntary social organization, which was established on 14 February 2017. The organization has been formed to connect Members of Parliament with the voters of Bangladesh to ensure accountability, transparency and neutrality among MPs. The organization has won several international awards, including "the Best Regional Enterprise".
