Akbar Ali (born 8 October 2001) is a Bangladeshi cricketer. He was referred as "Akbar the Great" after Bangladesh's victory in 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup under his captaincy and for his unbeaten knock in the final. Career Akbar made his Twenty20 debut for Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan in the 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League on 25 February 2019. He made his List A debut for Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan in the 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on 8 March 2019. Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) ( bn, বাংলাদেশ ক্রীড়া শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান, Bangladesh Institute of Sports Education) is the national sports institute of Bangladesh. It is residential and is located at Savar, about north-west of the capital, Dhaka, and about north of the National Martyrs' Memorial. It is a government-funded autonomous institution. History and management Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan was established in 1986 with the objective of developing sports in Bangladesh. The 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League was an edition of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, a List A cricket competition that was held in Bangladesh. It was the sixth edition of the tournament with List A status, although almost 35 seasons have been played before achieving the status. It started on 8 March, and concluded on 23 April 2019. Directly before the List A tournament started, the inaugural edition of the 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League took place, featuring the same twelve teams. Abahani Limited were the defending champions. They won the tournament, finishing ahead of Legends of Rupganj on net run rate. Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. The 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League was the first edition of the Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League, a Twenty20 cricket competition that was held in Bangladesh. It started on 25 February 2019 and concluded on 4 March 2019. The tournament took place directly before the 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, and features the same twelve teams. The final of the competition was played as a night game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) instigated the tournament in order to give Bangladeshi players more experience in the 20-over format, in the hope that local players will become more prominent in the Bangladesh Premier League.
