Bangladesh Development Forum
Bangladesh Development Forum is a biannual, was annual till 2005, conference in Bangladesh between the government and donor agencies. This is an invite only meeting let by the Finance Minister of Bangladesh. History The first meeting of the Bangladesh Development Forum was held in 2002. It replaced the Aid Consortium held in Paris. On 2 March 2005, Bangladesh government announced that they will take over the management of Bangladesh Development Forum from the World Bank. The government announced they will provide funding and make arrangements to hold the forum through Economic Relations Division under the Ministry of Finance. The government also stated that the conference would be biannual rather than annual from now on. In 2015, the Bangladesh Development Forum meet five years after the last meeting in 2010. The Economic Relations Division (ERD) is one of the four divisions of the Ministry of Finance, of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is an independent agency of the U.S. federal government that is primarily responsible for administering civilian foreign aid and development assistance. Pan Pacific Sonargaon is a hotel in Dhaka. It is one of the oldest 5 star hotel in Bangladesh and is owned by the Government of Bangladesh and operated by Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts. History Hotels Internation Limited was established on 25 June 1977 as a public limited company to establish a five star hotel in Dhaka. The foundation of Pan Pacific Sonargaon was laid on 17 October 1977. The construction was financed by Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (later renamed to Japan Bank for International Cooperation) as a loan to the government of Bangladesh. Pan Pacific Sonargaon was established in 1981. The hotel was designed by Hawaii-based architect Peter Hsi. Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts was hired to manage the hotel as Bangladesh lacked the necessary experience of operating a 5 star hotel. The OPEC Fund for International Development (OPEC Fund) is an intergovernmental development finance institution established in 1976 by the member states of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). The OPEC Fund was conceived at the Conference of the Sovereigns and Heads of State of OPEC Member Countries, which was held in Algiers, Algeria, in March 1975.
