Bang Bang You're Dead (film)
''Bang Bang You're Dead'' is a 2002 American drama thriller film directed by Guy Ferland and written by William Mastrosimone. It stars Tom Cavanagh, Ben Foster, Randy Harrison, and Janel Moloney. Based on Mastrosimone's 1999 play of the same name, the film is not a direct adaptation; it follows a troubled high school student played by Foster who participates in his school's production of the play while attempting to avoid going down the same path as the play's lead character. The film premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival in June 2002. Plot 16-year-old Trevor Adams (Ben Foster) attends an American high school where he is one of the outcasts harassed and humiliated by the school's jocks. He made a false threat to bomb the school a few months ago, narrowly escaping expulsion. Since then, Trevor has been trying to fit back in to normal high school life. ''Bang Bang You're Dead'' is a 1999 one-act play written by William Mastrosimone. Inspired by the Thurston High School shooting, the play follows a high school shooter who is tormented in his jail cell by apparitions of the five classmates he killed. A film adaptation, also written by Mastrosimone was released in 2002; it depicts a high school production of the play where one of the actors struggles to avoid becoming a shooter like the play's lead character. Purpose Mastrosimone stresses the importance of young people seeing the play performed by their peers, and therefore he does not allow the play to be on film or video. Mastrosimone hopes to reach out to potential killers in the thousands of audiences that the play continues to gather. Oleander (band)
Oleander is a post-grunge band from Sacramento, California, USA. Its name is derived from the poisonous flowering shrub oleander, which line the highways of Northern California. In their nine years of activity, the band released four studio albums under various record labels. Their most successful effort, 1999's ''February Son'', includes the hit single "Why I'm Here." Oleander went on official hiatus after the release and promotion of their third album, '' Joyride'', in 2004. Post-grunge is a derivative of grunge that has a less abrasive or intense tone than traditional grunge. Runaway Train (Oleander EP)
The ''Runaway Train EP'' is the second EP from American post-grunge band Oleander. It was released on November 19, 2002 and marks the band's move from Universal Records to Sanctuary. Overview The EP's title track was originally featured in the Showtime film '' Bang Bang You're Dead'', which premiered October 13, 2002. A music video was then shot and incorporated footage from the film. The cover photo of the ''Runaway Train EP'' depicts a screen shot from the video which was included on the record. Originally, the band's next studio album, '' Joyride'', was expected for a November 2002 release but took longer than planned. Thus, extra material was compiled for the ''Runaway Train EP'' which was sold at Oleander concerts that same month and was intended for a store release as well.
