Bane (plant)
The term bane (from ang, bana, meaning "thing causing death, poison"), in botany, is an archaic element in the common names of plants known to be toxic or poisonous. In the Middle Ages, several poisonous plants of the genus ''Aconitum'' were thought to have prophylactic qualities, repelling and protecting against that which they were ''banes'' to (e.g. ''henbane'', ''wolfsbane''). Variants There is no single species, genus, or family of poisonous plant exclusively referred to as ''banes''. Several unrelated plants bear the name. ;Austrian leopard's bane :'' Doronicum austriacum'', it grows between approximately 60 and 90 centimetres high with a spacing of 45 to 60 cm. Bane Jelić born 1967, is a Serbian rock musician, painter, and writer. Early life Bane Jelic was born in Belgrade, Serbia. From an early age he was attracted to musical instruments and music. At the age of ten he started to play the acoustic guitar, and for his twelfth birthday he received an electrical guitar and an amplifier. According to his own words, he spent many hours practicing his guitar skills. Most of the time he practiced, on average, ten hours every day. Created by writer Chuck Dixon and artist Graham Nolan, he made his debut in ''Batman: Vengeance of Bane'' #1 (January 1993). Bane (band)
Bane was an American hardcore punk band that began in 1995 as a side project between Aaron Dalbec (then of Converge) and Damon Bellorado. Dalbec approached Matt Firestone to sing and they played under the moniker of Gateway for a few shows, before Firestone parted ways to focus on other projects. Dalbec then approached Aaron Bedard (who had previously sung for the Worcester, Massachusetts hardcore band Backbone) about singing for Bane. They went into the studio in December 1995 with a few friends and released a five-song demo. The next year saw the release of their first EP, and many shows throughout central Massachusetts. In early 1997, Bane released ''Free to Think, Free to Be'' EP, and in 1998 the band released the '' Holding This Moment'' 7" and CD collection, and embarked upon their first US tour. Branislav "Bane" Kerac (born September 7, 1952, Novi Sad) is a Serbian comic book creator, known best for his series '' Cat Claw''. In the US he also published under his pseudonym H.M. Baker.
