Bandera County (Spanish: "flag", ) is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located in the Hill Country and its county seat is Bandera. As of the 2020 census, the population is 20,851. Bandera County is part of the San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area. The county is officially recognized as the "Cowboy Capital of the World" by the Texas Legislature. History In 1856, the Texas Legislature established Bandera County from portions of Bexar and Uvalde Counties, and named the county and its seat for Bandera Pass, which uses the Spanish word for flag. Bandera (Spanish: "flag", ) is the county seat of Bandera County, Texas, United States, in the Texas Hill Country, which is part of the Edwards Plateau. The population was 857 at the 2010 census. Bandera calls itself the " Cowboy Capital of the World". History A visitor to Bandera can see a sign on Main Street in front of the fire department that states that Bandera was founded by Polish Roman Catholic immigrants from Upper Silesia. St. Stanislaus Catholic Church was built by those immigrants, and the church is one of the oldest in Texas. Many of the residents are descended from those original Polish immigrants. Several stories exist regarding the origin of the name "Bandera". One says that in the 19th century, a flag was placed at the top of a path that came to be called Bandera Pass, due to ''bandera'' being the Spanish word for flag. Bandera (Santiago del Estero) is a municipality and town in Santiago del Estero Province in Argentina. It is the capital of the Belgrano Department, Santiago del Estero, Belgrano Department, at the edge of National Route 98. Bandera is located some 272 km from the provincial capital, which is reached by National Route No. 34 and Provincial Route No. 21. Bandera State Airport
Bandera State Airport is a public use airport located in Bandera, King County, Washington, United States. It is owned by the Washington State DOT Aviation Division. This airport was constructed in 1948 as one of the first state airports. It is located in the upper Snoqualmie Valley, east of North Bend, Washington. The airport is a few feet off Interstate 90. It is an excellent location for mountain flying practice. Though surrounded by mountains, the valley is wide enough for maneuvering most light aircraft. The airport is frequently used by instructors for training students in soft field work and in mountain flying. Glider clubs frequently base out of Bandera.
