Banda Maguey
Banda Maguey (nickname: "La estrella de los bailes") is a Regional Mexican band from Jalisco, Mexico. They originated in Villa Corona, also the home of Banda Machos, who along with Banda Maguey have been called the two most successful exponents of the Banda music#Technobanda, Technobanda sound. Banda Maguey was led by their singer Ernesto Solano who has also composed a number of their songs, including ''Pero Te Amo'', a hit from their fourth album, ''El Mundo Gira''. In 1998, Banda Maguey signed a record deal with Bertelsmann Music Group, BMG U.S. Latin and recorded ''Lágrimas De Sangre.'' A favorite during the 1990s Technobanda craze, Banda Maguey took over the radio waves with their debut album ''Tumbando Caña'' in 1994, which contained a number of hits including "El Alacran" a cover originally sung by La Sonora Matancera. Villa Corona
Villa Corona is a town and municipality, in Jalisco in central-western Mexico. The municipality covers an area of 179.37 km². In 1160, several families left Aztlán, forming two large migrant groups. One group went to the north of what is now Jalisco, and the other group towards the Pacific region. The group that migrated towards Jalisco arrived at what is now Villa Corona in approximately 1250. One of the tribes decided to stay for their love of hunting and fishing. They were promptly accepted by the locals, all thanks to their peaceful and pacifist ways. It is likely that during these days the name ''Tizapanito'' (initially ''Tizapantzinco'') was conceived, a name which means ''place on the white land''. Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) was a division of a German media company Bertelsmann before its completion of sale of the majority of its assets to Sony Corporation of America on 1 October 2008. La Sonora Matancera is a Cuban band that played Latin American urban popular dance music. Cordelia Chávez Candelaria (born September 14, 1943) is an American educator and writer of Hispanic descent. Early life and education Candelaria was born in Deming, New Mexico, to Ray J. Chávez and Eloida Trujillo. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Fort Lewis College, where she studied English and French. She then earned a Master of Arts in English and a PhD in American literature and structural linguistics from the University of Notre Dame. Career From 1975 to 1978, Candelaria was an associate professor of English and Chicano literature at Idaho State University. She was also a program officer for the Division of Research at the National Endowment for the Humanities from 1976 to 1977.
