É o Tchan! is a pagode band from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil that started in 1992. History Originally called Gera Samba, they debuted with their hit single ''Segura o Tchan''. Their first album, called ''É o Tchan'' (1995), sold triple platinum. After legal problems, the name of the band changed from Gera Samba to É o Tchan, and with this name, they released the album ''Na Cabeça e na Cintura'' (In the Head and in the Waist), a reference to one of their signature dance moves. The group became popular because of the combination of catchy melody and simple lyrics, with choreography performed by two dancers, a blonde (''loira do Tchan'') and a brunette (''morena do Tchan''). Timbalada is an Afro-Brazilian musician group from Candeal, Salvador, Brazil. It was founded by drummer Carlinhos Brown, and the composer and percussionist Tony Mola . Olodum is a ''bloco-afro'' from Salvador's carnival, in Bahia, Brazil. It was founded by the percussionist Neguinho do Samba. Banda Olodum (Olodum's Band) Olodum is widely credited with developing the music style known as samba reggae and for its active participation in '' carnaval'' each year. Neguinho do Samba, the lead percussionist, created a mix of the traditional Brazilian samba beat with merengue, salsa, and reggae rhythms for the Bahian Carnival of 1986; this became known as samba reggae. Ricardo Alberto Medeiros Chaves (born 27 October 1977) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a central midfielder, and is a manager.
