Banda Bassotti
Banda Bassotti is an Italian ska-punk band formed in 1987 in Rome, Italy. Their songs are generally political in nature, focusing on Communist and anti-fascist issues. Many are about also politics of Ireland and Latin America. The band was inspired by The Clash and The Specials. The band was politically active from the beginning, attending protests and sympathizing with anti-fascist movements in Italy. Their name derives from the Italian version of the Disney characters Beagle Boys. Releases Banda Bassotti released their first album ''Figli della stessa rabbia'' in 1991, which gained them a success amongst the local political and punk circles. In 1995, they released their second album ''Avanzo di cantiere'' recorded in the Basque Country with Kaki Arkarazo and Negu Gorriak. With this lineup the band toured Spain during the same year. Ska punk (also spelled ska-punk) is a fusion genre that mixes ska music and punk rock music together. (sometimes spelled skacore) is a subgenre of ska punk that mixes ska with hardcore punk. Early ska punk mixed both 2 Tone (music genre), 2 tone and ska with hardcore punk. Ska punk tends to feature brass instruments, especially Horn (instrument), horns such as trumpets, trombones and woodwind instruments like saxophones, making the genre distinct from other forms of punk rock. It is closely tied to third wave ska which reached its zenith in the mid-1990s. Bio L'Altra is an indie rock/electronic band consisting of principle songwriters Joseph Desler Costa and Lindsay Anderson joined by drummer Charles Rumback and guitarist Alessandro Baris. The band is currently split between Chicago, IL and Brooklyn, NY. History L'Altra formed in 1999 in Chicago with original members Ken Dyber, Eben English, Lindsay Anderson, and Joseph Desler Costa. Marc Hellner of Pulseprogramming was also a regular contributor. The band's name is Italian or Català and means "the eminineother" or "other woman.". The band released an EP and two records with Aesthetics Records before English and Dyber left the band. The band continued with Costa and Anderson as a songwriting duo and relying on a loose collective of Chicago based musicians and friends.
