Ban Khrua
Ban Khrua ( th, บ้านครัว, ; other spellings include ''Ban Krua'' and ''Baan Krua'') is a historic community neighborhood along Bangkok's Khlong Saen Saep from Saphan Hua Chang to Wat Phrayayang. It includes an area of about 14 rai (about 5.5 acres) on both banks of the canal. It's divided into three parts: ''Ban Khrua Nuea'' (บ้านครัวเหนือ; 'North Ban Khrua'); ''Ban Khrua Tai'' (บ้านครัวใต้; 'South Ban Khrua') in Ratchathewi District; and ''Ban Khrua Tawan Tok'' (บ้านครัวตะวันตก; 'West Ban Khrua') in Pathum Wan District. Bang Pakong River
The Bang Pakong ( th, แม่น้ำบางปะกง, , ) is a river in east Thailand. The river originates at the confluence of the Phra Prong River and the Hanuman River near Kabin Buri, Prachinburi Province. It empties after 231 kilometres into the Gulf of Thailand at the northeastern tip of the Bay of Bangkok. The watershed of the Bang Pakong is about . James Harrison Wilson Thompson (born 21 March 1906) was an American businessman who helped revitalise the Thai silk industry in the 1950s and 1960s. He co-founded the Thai Silk Company in 1948. The son of a prominent Delaware family, Thompson graduated from Princeton University in 1928 and studied architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. From 1931 to 1940, he worked as an architect in New York City, designing homes for East Coast high society. In 1941, Thompson quit his job and enlisted with the Delaware National Guard, serving as an operative in the Office of Strategic Services (the forerunner of the Central Intelligence Agency) during World War II. After the war, he was assigned to the U.S. legation in Bangkok, Thailand. He embarked on his silk weaving career after leaving the military in 1946. The Jim Thompson House is a museum in central Bangkok, Thailand, housing the art collection of American businessman and architect Jim Thompson, the museum designer and former owner.
