Bamboo (production Act)
Bamboo was a short-lived British house production act formed by producer Andrew Livingstone, formerly of Hed Boys (with Dave Lee/Joey Negro). It had a #2 hit in the UK Singles Chart with " Bamboogie" in 1998, which was based on a sample from the KC and the Sunshine Band's 1975 US #1 single "Get Down Tonight". The act's other hit single, also in 1998, was "The Strutt", which peaked at #36 and featured Erin Lordan on vocals. Both singles were released on the VC Recordings label,Roberts, David (Ed.) (2004). House is a music genre characterized by a repetitive Four on the floor (music), four-on-the-floor beat and a typical tempo of 120 beats per minute. Joey Negro
David Russell Lee (born 18 June 1964) is an English DJ and house music producer, formerly known by the stage name Joey Negro, which he retired in July 2020 following the George Floyd protests. He has released music under a variety of pseudonyms, including Jakatta, Doug Willis, Raven Maize, Sessomatto as well as being part of The Sunburst Band. Lee has scored a number of top 40 hits, among them " American Dream", "So Lonely" and "My Vision", all under the name Jakatta. "Bamboogie" is a song by short-lived British house production act Bamboo. It heavily samples the song "Get Down Tonight" by KC and the Sunshine Band, which became a US number-one hit in 1975. Following airplay exposure in December 1997, "Bamboogie" was released in the United Kingdom on 5 January 1998. Upon its release, "Bamboogie" debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart on 11 January 1998, behind " Never Ever" by All Saints. According to the Official Charts Company, "Never Ever" beat "Bamboogie" to the top spot by 557 copies. Erin Lordan (8 November 1963 – 26 February 2005) was a British singer and dancer who had hits in the UK with BBG, Bamboo, Ascension and Shut Up and Dance.
