Zoltán Balog (politician)
Zoltán Balog (born 7 January 1958) is a Hungarian Calvinist bishop and former politician, who served as Minister of Human Resources from 2012 to 2018. He is the bishop of the Dunamellék diocese of the Hungarian Reformed Church from January 25, 2021. On February 17, 2021, he was elected pastoral president by the Synod of the Hungarian Reformed Church. Studies and pastoral activity Zoltán Balog was born in Ózd on 7 January 1958. He was a volunteer in the post-WW2 renovation works of church buildings in Wittenberg, Goppeln and Dresden. He was an extramural student of Protestant theology at the Humboldt University in East Berlin in 1980. He finished his secondary studies at the Calvinist College of Debrecen in 1976. James Balog
James Balog (pronounced ''BAY-log''; born July 15, 1952) sometimes referred to as Jim Balog, is an American photographer whose work explores the relationship between humans and nature. Since the early 1980s, Balog has photographed such subjects as endangered animals, North America's old-growth forests, and polar ice. His work aims to combine insights from art and science to produce innovative interpretations of our changing world. Balog's best-known project explores the impact of climate change on the world's glaciers. In 2007, he initiated the Extreme Ice Survey, the most wide-ranging ground-based photographic glacier study ever conducted. Balog or Balogh was a medieval family or clan (Latin '' generatio'') of Hungarian nobles which is believed to have been founded by the German knight Altmann von Friedberg, somewhat around 1046, when he settled in the Kingdom of Hungary. Čierny Balog (until 1927 also Balog, or Čierny Hronec; hu, Feketebalog) is a municipality in Brezno District, in the Banská Bystrica Region of central Slovakia. Lester Balog
Lester Balog (April 18, 1905 – February 1976) was a labor activist and founding member of the Workers' Film & Photo League. Born in Hungary, he immigrated to the United States in the early 1920s. A soccer player in Budapest, after immigrating to the U.S. with his family as a teen, he joined the Labor Sports Union in New York. From there, he got involved with other Workers' organizations. In 1925, after mainstream media photographers were beaten during the Passaic Textile Strike in Passaic, New Jersey, he took up a camera to document the strike and the brutality of police toward the strikers. He became a "worker filmmaker" who helped to make the film, Passaic Textile Strike, one of the earliest surviving films about workers' struggles in the United States. In 1926, at the age of 21, and one year from an engineering degree, Balog left Cooper Union in New York City to join the workers' movement. Zoltán Balog (born on October 10, 1972 in Szolnok, Hungary) is an astronomer with the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany. In 2006, while at the Steward Observatory at the University of Arizona, Balog's team was the first to observe the complete process of photoevaporation of a protoplanetary disk.
