Ballysodare Railway Station
Ballysodare railway station, currently with only the goods shed remaining, was located on the Dublin-Sligo railway line in Ballysadare, County Sligo. The station opened on 3 December 1862. It was closed to passengers on 17 June 1963 and finally closing to goods on 3 November 1975. The station is believed to have been double tracked since opening, being singled in 1958. Ballysodare station was on the Midland Great Western Railway which became part of Irish Rail. From 1882 until 1957 it also was served by the last independent railway in the British Isles, the Sligo, Leitrim and Northern Counties Railway from Enniskillen. Sligo Mac Diarmada station, also known as Sligo railway station, is a mainline railway station which serves the town of Sligo in County Sligo, Ireland. Galway (Ceannt) railway station (''Ceannt Station'' / ''Stáisiún Cheannt'') serves the city of Galway in County Galway. The station itself is located in the centre of the city in Eyre Square. It is the terminus station for the Dublin Heuston railway station, Dublin to Galway intercity service and the Limerick to Galway and Athenry to Galway commuter services. Tuam Railway Station
Tuam railway station is a largely disused railway station in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland. History The station was originally opened in 1860 as part of the Waterford, Limerick and Western Railway route between Limerick and Sligo, and was the major stop on the section between Athenry and Claremorris, being the only station on this section with two platforms and a passing loop. In 1901, the WLWR was purchased by the Great Southern and Western Railway, and thus became part of the GSWR's network. Tuam also featured an extensive goods yard and locomotive facilities. The station was closed, along with the whole route, in 1976 during Córas Iompair Éireann's rationalisation of the rail network. Western Rail Corridor
The Western Railway Corridor is a term, used since , for a partly disused railway line running through the west of Ireland. Currently two sections of the line, from Limerick via Ennis to Athenry and from Collooney to Sligo, see regular services, with other sections either closed or only technically classed as open. Context West on Track West on Track was established in 2003 with the aim of reopening the western rail corridor line, for the use of passenger and freight traffic. Ballysadare (), locally also Ballisodare, is a town in County Sligo, Ireland. It is about 7 kilometres (4 miles) south of Sligo town. The town developed on an important crossing of the Owenmore River. History Toponymy The Ox Mountains () are located west of the town. The town itself is named after the falls on the Owenmore River. Ballysadare is in the barony of Leyny formerly the ''túath'' of Luighne Connacht, and the barony of Tirerril, formerly the ''túath'' of Tír Olloíl. The Sligo, Leitrim and Northern Counties Railway (SL&NCR) was a railway in counties Cavan, Fermanagh, Leitrim and Sligo in north-west Ireland. It consisted of one main line, with no branch lines and remained privately owned until its closure.
