	Ballyroan, Dublin Ballyroan () is a suburban area within Rathfarnham, County Dublin, Ireland. It lies at the foot of the Dublin mountains, alongside Ballyboden, Butterfield, Knocklyon, Old Orchard, and Scholarstown. The townland of Ballyroan crosses civil parish and barony boundaries with roughly 114 acres of the historical townland in the civil parish of Tallaght in the barony of Uppercross, and nearly 10 acres in the civil parish of Rathfarnham in the barony of Rathdown. The modern suburb of Ballyroan has extended somewhat beyond the traditional townland boundaries. 	Ballyroan, County Laois Ballyroan () is a small village in County Laois, Ireland. It is in the civil parish of Ballyroan and in the former barony of Cullenagh. The R425 regional road passes through the village. History Ballyroan is an ancient settlement, though its origins are obscure. A castle likely stood there in the Middle Ages, as one Conall Ó Mórdha, son of Daibhí Ó Mórdha, lord of Laois, is attested to have "built the castle of Baile atha in roine" in the fourteenth century. The area remained in the hands of the O'Mores until the sixteenth century; it is listed in the possessions of Conall Ó Mórdha (d. 1537). In 1834, Alexander Harrison rented a house, offices, and yard on Main Street in Ballyroan. Having just passed his exam in May he was appointed surveyor of Queen's County. 	Ballyroan GAA Ballyroan Abbey GAA was a Gaelic football club in Ballyroan, County Laois, Ireland. Founded in 1887, the club colours were sky blue and navy, originally having been royal blue with a dominant white V on the front. The club won eight Laois Senior Football Championship titles, the most recent of which was in 1992. It also won the second ever Laois Junior A Football Championship in 1907. In 2006, a number of Ballyroan players were part of the Ballyroan Gaels squad that won the Laois Senior Football Championship. Ballyroan Gaels was an amalgamation of the two neighbouring clubs, Abbeyleix GAA and Ballyroan. In 2007 the two clubs joined together to form the new Ballyroan Abbey GAA club. The existing Abbeyleix GAA club now solely plays hurling. Ballyroan Abbey still exists today. The club colours were originally royal blue with a dominant white V on the front, later being changed to sky blue and navy. The Ballyroan GAA club won eight Laois Senior Football Championship titles in its own right, the most recent of which was in 1992. Ballyroan Gaels was a temporary amalgamation of the two neighbouring clubs, Abbeyleix and Ballyroan. This amalgamation was made permanent in 2007, when they became known as Ballyroan Abbey GAA. This was also a year of great surprise, when they lost to The Heath in a relegation play-off game meaning they would take part at intermediate rather than senior level in 2008. However, 2008 saw the club make a swift return to senior ranks with a 1-12 to 0-10 win over Park/Ratheniska in the final of the Laois Intermediate Football Championship .
