The Ballymore Cup is an under 17 schoolboys rugby union competition run by the Queensland Rugby Union The Queensland Rugby Union, or QRU, is the governing body for the sport of rugby union within the state of Queensland in Australia. It is a member and founding union of Rugby Australia. The QRU was founded in Brisbane in 1883 as the ''Northern .... History Origin The competition grew out of the Metropolitan Cup which was established in 1999 as a knockout competition in Brisbane for secondary schools outside the traditional rugby schools. 2003 2003 saw the Ballymore Cup include schools from the Gold Coast, Darling Downs and Sunshine Coast regions. According to the Queensland Rugby Union, this led to increased interest in the competition and an improved standard. 2004 2004 was a ground breaking year with 91 schools from North Queensland, South Queensland and Metropolitan schools all vying for a Super 8 place at Ballymore. Queensland Rugby Union
The Queensland Rugby Union, or QRU, is the Sports governing body, governing body for the sport of rugby union within the state of Queensland in Australia. It is a member and founding union of Rugby Australia. The QRU was founded in Brisbane in 1883 as the ''Northern Rugby Union'', after breaking away from the Queensland Football Association before being formally constituted in 1893 when the name was changed to the Queensland Rugby Football Union. The first 1883 season began with two clubs: Fireflies and Wanderers. Early intercolonials were played at Eagle Farm Racecourse. Sunshine Coast Grammar School
The Sunshine Coast Grammar School is a private Christian school located in Forest Glen, a town on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. The school has a student body of over 1200, from prep to grade 12. The school was established in 1997. It is owned by Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association, which operates several other schools in Queensland. History The School was originally started as a non-denominational educational institute, by the founding headmaster John Burgess. The Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association purchased the school from Burgess after he was forced to relinquish financial possession of the school. Nigel Fairbairn took over from the Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association's Dr Evans.
