Ballymoney United Football Club is an intermediate, Northern Irish football club playing in the Ballymena & Provincial Football League. The club, founded in 1944, hails from Ballymoney, County Antrim and currently plays its home matches at the Ballymoney Showgrounds. Before relegation from the Northern Ireland Football League in 2015, the club played at the Riada Stadium in Ballymoney, which is shared with Glebe Rangers. Club colours are all blue with a white and black away kit. The current managers are Lee Mcclelland and Stewart McMullan, the Chairman is Noel Lamont who has been chairman for about 6 years. . Ballymena & Provincial Football League
The Ballymena and Provincial Football League is a regional football league in Northern Ireland. The league has a Premier Division with intermediate status and three junior divisions: Junior Divisions 1, 2 and 3. History The league was formed as the Ballymena and District Junior League in 1948, with twelve founding members, including Moyola Park F.C., the only original member club that still retains membership through its reserve team. In 1983, the name was changed to the Ballymena and District Premier League, and in 1990, intermediate status was granted to the top division and the league was renamed as the Ballymena and Provincial Intermediate League. Jimmy Kelly (Irish Footballer)
Jimmy Kelly (1911, Ballybofey, County Donegal, Ireland – November 1970) was an Irish footballer who played for, among others, Derry City, Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk. Kelly was one of the most prolific goalscorers ever to play in the (Northern) Irish League, scoring 748 goals in the league between 1928 and 1952. He also scored 12 goals during his time in the (Southern) League of Ireland and scored a further 193 in other competitions. Kelly was noted for having a powerful left footed shot. Kelly was a dual international and played for both Ireland teams – the IFA XI and the FAI XI. In 1932 he became the first (Northern) Irish League player to play for an FAI XI and in 1934 was a member of their first team to play in a World Cup qualifier.
