Ballylongford
Ballylongford (historically ''Bealalongford'', from ) is a village near Listowel in northern County Kerry, Ireland. Geography The village is situated near the estuary of the Ballyline River, on Ballylongford Bay, a tidal estuary of the River Shannon, close to Carrigafoyle Island and on the coast road between Tarbert and the seaside town of Ballybunion. The farmland in the area is used primarily for dairying, which is a mainstay of the local economy. North Kerry Senior Football Championship
The North Kerry Senior Football Championship is a Gaelic football competition for GAA clubs affiliated to the North Kerry Division of Kerry. The official name of the competition is The Bernard O'Callaghan Memorial North Kerry Senior Football Championship, in honour of the late Bernie O'Callaghan (Beale) who was Chairman of the North Kerry GAA Board for 25 years (1974 to 1998) and did a huge amount of work for North Kerry football. The Championship runs from October to December each year but has on occasion continued into the New Year due to replays and postponements. Fourteen clubs are eligible to play in the Championship: Asdee, Ballydonoghue, Ballyduff, Ballylongford, Beale, Brosna, Castleisland Desmonds, Duagh, Finuge, Knocknagoshel, Listowel Emmets, Moyvane, St. Senan's and Tarbert. The Kerry Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by mid-tier Kerry GAA clubs. Rathmore are the title holders (2022).. The winners of the Kerry Intermediate Football Championship progress to the Munster Intermediate Club Football Championship, representing Kerry, later that year, or, as was the case in 2021, the following year. Kieran Culhane was a Gaelic footballer from County Kerry. He played with the Kerry senior team in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He won a Munster Championship medal at full back in 1991. Paddy Kelly (Kerry Gaelic Footballer)
Paddy Kelly is a footballer from County Kerry. He won an All-Ireland Medal with Kerry in 2004, and also won an Munster Minor Championship in 2001. He played club football with a number of different clubs, specifically Ballylongford, John Mitchels and Listowel Emmets. Underage Kelly first played with Kerry at minor level in 2001. Wins over Waterford and Corkseen allowed Kelly to pick up a Munster medal. Kerry later lost to Dublin in the All-Ireland semi-final. He later linked up with the Kerry Under 21 team. In 2002 he was Right Half Forward as Kerry overcame Clare in the Munster final. They later lost to Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final. He was a regular again in 2003. John Kennedy (Gaelic Footballer)
John Kennedy is a Gaelic football manager and former player from County Kerry, Ireland. He led Clare to the 2004 Tommy Murphy Cup. He also managed the Kerry minor team between 2006 and 2009, winning Munster Minor Football Championship titles in 2006, 2008 and 2009, and leading his team to the 2006 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship final, where they lost to Roscommon after a replay. Paudie O'Donoghue
Paudie O'Donoghue (1944–2008) was an Irish sportsperson. He played Gaelic football with his local club Ballylongford and was a member of the Kerry senior inter-county team from 1964 until 1974. Club O'Donoghue played his club football with both Ballylongford and Shannon Rangers. It was a very successful time for both sides during his career. He won his first Kerry Senior Football Championship title in 1964 when the North Kerry side overcame East Kerry in the final. They would later go on to win the first ever Munster Senior Club Football Championship by beating Clare champions Cooraclare. He lined out in a second final in 1971 where Rangers lost out to Mid Kerry. The following season O'Donoghue and co qualified for another final where they again faced Mid Kerry, the result went the way of the North Kerry side as O'Donoghue picked up his second county title as was also the side captain.
