Ballyea is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in the parish of Ballyea, County Clare, Ballyea/Clarecastle in County Clare, Ireland founded in 1935. History In 2016 Clare Senior Hurling Championship, 2016, Ballyea coached by Robbie Hogan won their first ever Clare Senior Hurling Championship when they defeated Clonlara GAA, Clonlara in the final by 2–14 to 1–14 after a replay. 2022 Clare Senior Hurling Championship
The 2022 Clare Senior Hurling Championship is a competition in hurling that will be the 124th staging of the Clare Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Clare GAA, Clare County Board in 1887. The 2021 Clare Senior Hurling Championship, 2021 champions, and holders of the Canon Hamilton Cup are Ballyea GAA, Ballyea who won their third title in six years, following on from their maiden success in 2016 Clare Senior Hurling Championship, 2016 and another in 2018 Clare Senior Hurling Championship, 2018. They defeated Inagh-Kilnamona GAA, Inagh-Kilnamona by a single point in Cusack Park (Ennis), Cusack Park, Ennis in the county final. Gary Brennan
Gary Brennan is an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for the Clondegad club and at senior level for the Clare county team. He also plays club hurling for Ballyea. Playing career Club Inter-county On 31 July 2016, Brennan started in midfield as Clare were defeated by Kerry in the 2016 All-Ireland Quarter-finals at Croke Park. His performances throughout 2016 earned him an All-Star award nomination. In January 2021, Brennan announced his retirement from inter-county football. International Brennan was included in the squad for the 2015 and 2017 International Rules Series. He scored 1-0-1 in the second test of the 2017 Series, including a first half goal. Other work Brennan teaches P.E.E. and Irish at St Flannan's College in Ennis. He studied P.E.E. at the University of Limerick. Tony Griffin
Tony Griffin is a former inter-county Hurling, hurler who retired from that in November 2009. Paul Flanagan
Paul Flanagan (born 16 September 1992) is an Irish hurler. At club he plays with Ballyea, while he has also lined out at inter-county level with various Clare teams. Playing career Flanagan first played hurling to a high standard as a student at St. Flannan's College in Ennis. He lined out for the college in all grades, including the Harty Cup. He later played with the University of Limerick in the Fitzgibbon Cup. At club level, Flanagan first played hurling at underage levels with Ballyea, while he also played Gaelic football with Clondegad. He enjoyed success as a minor hurler, before later being a dual medal-winner in the under-21 grades. At adult level, Flanagan has also won a Clare IFC medal and four Clare SHC medals. Jack Browne (hurler)
Jack Browne (born 1993) is an Irish hurler who plays as a right wing-back for the Clare senior team. Born in Ballyea, County Clare, Browne was introduced to hurling in his youth. He developed his skills at St. Flannan's College while simultaneously enjoying championship successes at underage levels with the Ballyea club. Browne subsequently became a regular member of the Ballyea senior team. He has also enjoyed Fitzgibbon Cup success with the University of Limerick. Browne made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Clare minor team. An All-Ireland runner-up in this grade, he later won two All-Ireland medals with the under-21 team. Browne made his senior debut during the 2014 league. Clare Junior Hurling Championship
Clare Junior Hurling Championship is the third-tier hurling competition organized by the Clare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The competition is confined to clubs organised by Clare GAA. The winners usually will play in the intermediate grade the following year for the Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship. They will also represent Clare GAA in the Munster Junior Club Hurling Championship. The 2022 Junior Champions are St Joseph's Doora-Barefield GAA, St. Joseph's, Doora-Barefield who defeated their near-neighbours Éire Óg, Inis GAA, Éire Óg, Ennis by a single point to be crowned champions for the fifth time at this grade. Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition organised by the Clare GAA, Clare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association for the second tier hurling teams in the county of County Clare, Clare in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Cusack Park (Ennis), Cusack Park. The championship includes a group stage which is followed by a knock-out phase for the top teams. There is also promotion involving the Clare Senior Hurling Championship and relegation involving the Clare Junior Hurling Championship. In 2012 it was decided that from 2014 onwards the Clare Senior Hurling Championship would become a single sixteen team championship. This meant that five clubs would lose their senior status and be relegated down to intermediate. All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship
The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Club Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Club Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county club hurling competition in Ireland, and has been contested every year since the 1970-71 championship (except for 2020-2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic). The final, currently held on the third Sunday in January, is the culmination of a series of games played between October and February with the winners receiving the Tommy Moore Cup. The All-Ireland Championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the championship. 2021 Clare Senior Hurling Championship
The 2021 Clare Senior Hurling Championship was a competition in hurling that was the 126th staging of the Clare Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Clare County Board in 1887. With Sixmilebridge having won back-to-back titles in 2019 and 2020, they are looking to be the first Clare club team to win a three-in-a-row since Newmarket-on-Fergus in 1973. They defeated near-neighbours O'Callaghan's Mills in the 2020 final who were contesting their first final since 1993 which they ironically also lost to Sixmilebridge. The 2021 Championship changed from the regular layout in adopting a group stage format. In 2020 a decision was made to not relegate any team from any championship in Clare due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
