Ballina ( ; ) is a town in north County Mayo, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It lies at the mouth of the River Moy near Killala Bay, in the Moy valley and Parish of Kilmoremoy, with the Ox Mountains to the east and the Nephin Beg Range, Nephin Beg mountains to the west. Ballina (historically ''Bellanaha''), from , is a census town that lies on the River Shannon in County Tipperary, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is situated on the eastern shore of Lough Derg (Shannon), Lough Derg across from its 'twin-town' of Killaloe, County Clare, Killaloe on the west bank of the lake. The towns are joined by Killaloe Bridge. The annual Brian Boru Festival takes place in early July each year. The town lies on the Richmond River and serves as a gateway to Byron Bay. History Ballina is located on the ancestral land of the Bundjalung people, the original inhabitants. Archaeological evidence demonstrates Bundjalung occupation of the region for at least 6000 years. One view suggests that the name Ballina comes from corruption of a clan name for the ''Bullina'' band of the Arakwal. It has been argued that in this tribe's Bundjalung language, meant "place of many oysters". Ballina is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. History Ballina was originally created in 1894, when the three-member electorate of Richmond was divided into Richmond, Lismore and Ballina. In 1904, Ballina was replaced by Byron. In 1988, a recreated Ballina and Murwillumbah replaced Byron. The 2004 redistribution of electoral districts estimated that the electoral district would have 47,246 electors on 29 April 2007. At the 2007 election it encompassed all of Ballina Shire (including Ballina, Alstonville, Lennox Head and Wollongbar) and most of the populated areas of Byron Shire (including Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Ocean Shores, Suffolk Park, Brunswick Heads, South Golden Beach and Bangalow). Ballina Shire is a local government area in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia. The Shire was formed on 1 January 1977 by the amalgamation of the Municipality of Ballina and Tintenbar Shire. The Shire is located adjacent to the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Highway. The council seat is located in the town of Ballina. The population of the Ballina Shire area was 44,208 in June 2018. The mayor of Ballina Shire Council is Sharon Cadwallader. Cazenovia is an incorporated town in Madison County, New York. The population was 6,740 at the time of the 2020 census. The town is named after Theophile Cazenove, the ''Agent General'' of the Holland Land Company. The Town of Cazenovia has a village also named Cazenovia. The town is on the county's western border. The village of Cazenovia is home to Cazenovia College, a small liberal arts college in the greater Syracuse area. It was founded in 1824, known then as the Genesee Seminary. History The Town of Cazenovia was established in 1793 from the Towns of Whitestown and Paris (both in Oneida County) before the creation of Madison County.
