Baldwin High School (Milledgeville, Georgia)
Baldwin High School (BHS) is located at 155 Highway 49 West in Milledgeville, Georgia, United States. New additions since 2003 include a classroom wing, a JROTC building, a fine arts wing, cafeteria and a vocational building. Baldwin is the only public high school in Baldwin County, and the largest of the three total high schools. The other two are private schools: John Milledge Academy and Georgia Military College. Mascot controversy A Mascot Advisory Committee was formed by the Baldwin County Board of Education in 2016. After a year of discussion, the board decided to retain the "Braves" mascot name but remove some of the stereotypical imagery. Malcolm Thomas (born c. 1963) is a former college basketball player. He is listed at 6' 7" and played forward/guard for the University of Missouri (1983–1985). Thomas first began playing collegiate basketball at Moberly (Mo.) Junior College (1981–1983) where he was named Outstanding Player by the National Junior College Tournament in 1983. He chose to transfer to Mizzou where he led the Tigers in scoring (17.4 ppg), field goal percentage (.530), rebounds (8.2 rpg) and blocks (37 total) in his senior year there. Audra Smith
Audra Smith (born January 23, 1970) is a head women's basketball coach . Career Smith played basketball at the University of Virginia, graduating with a degree in sociology in 1992. Beginning in 1994, she served as an assistant coach for the Cavaliers for 10 seasons. In the 2004–05 season, Smith became head coach at the University of Alabama Birmingham. She coached UAB for eight seasons. During the 2006 season, UAB went 19–13, including a 12–4 Conference USA mark, as UAB set records for most Conference USA wins in a season. Otis Murphy
Otis Murphy (born 1972) is an American classical saxophonist and saxophone professor at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. He joined in 2001 and became one of the youngest members of its faculty in the school's history. Darius Marshall (born February 21, 1989) is a former American football running back. He was a member of the New Mexico Stars. Marshall played college football for the Marshall Thundering Herd. Leroy Hill Jr. (born September 14, 1982) is a former American football linebacker. He played high school football in Milledgeville, Georgia for the Baldwin High School Braves. He was selected with the 34th pick of the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft out of Clemson University by the Seahawks. Professional career Injuries to starting veteran linebacker Jamie Sharper put him into the starting lineup in his rookie year, and he did very well, totaling 72 tackles and 7.5 sacks from the outside linebacker position.
