Bald Mountain (Uinta Range)
Bald Mountain is a peak in the western Uinta Mountain Range in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest on the border between Summit and Wasatch counties in northeastern Utah, United States. Description The mountain has a prominence of and is home to mountain goats, pika, and a number of species of wildflowers. Utah State Route 150 (SR‑150) passes just east of the mountain. Bald Mountain Trail The summit can be reached by the Bald Mountain Trail (National Forest Trail 3202), beginning at Bald Mountain Pass on SR‑150,. The trail provides views of the surrounding areas. The maintained trail gains of elevation in and due to the high elevation (the trailhead is about above sea level) it is a moderately strenuous hike with no shade. The hike to the summit can be completed in 2 to 3 hours round trip. The trail does commonly have snow. Bald Mountain (Michigan)
Bald Mountain, located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, is one of several bare rock summits of the Huron Mountain range. It is on the border of Marquette County and Baraga County, but most of the summit resides in Marquette County. It rises about south of Lake Superior (elevation ). Bald Mountain is an outlier of the Huron Mountain range, as it is farther west than most of the other rocky summits. Other outliers on the opposite, eastern side of the range include Hogsback Mountain and Sugarloaf Mountain. It is currently privately owned, but is administered under the CFA program. The surrounding area is being actively logged in 2017. Bald Mountain Recreation Area
Bald Mountain State Recreation Area is a state park located near Lake Orion, Michigan off M-24. It consists of some of the most rugged terrain in southeastern Michigan. The recreation area is composed of a North Unit and a South Unit, which are not contiguous. The South Unit itself includes two parts separated by M-24 (Lapeer Road), but the section west of M-24 has no recreational facilities or trails and is primarily undeveloped forest and grassy plains segmented by a few through-roads. It is a popular recreation area for day users, hunters, and fishermen. Hunting includes deer, rabbit, squirrel, Canada goose, woodchuck, duck, raccoon, and woodcock. Fishing includes bass, pike, panfish, and trout. The park also includes a rifle and a sporting clays range. Bald Mountain is a prominent peak in Northeastern Pennsylvania which stands above the Wilkes-Barre and Scranton area (also known as the Wyoming Valley). On the summit is an outcrop of Catskill conglomerate (Devonian age) known as the "Pinnacle Rock". From the summit you may view the northernmost extension of the geologic province known as the Glaciated Low Plateaus section. The mountain itself is in the Ridge and Valley Appalachians. It is a great place for photography. To access the summit you can take the Pinnacle Rock trail. The trailhead is on the west side of the mountain and is a nine hundred foot vertical gain. The Cascade Range or Cascades is a major mountain range of western North America, extending from southern British Columbia through Washington and Oregon to Northern California. It includes both non-volcanic mountains, such as the North Cascades, and the notable volcanoes known as the High Cascades. The small part of the range in British Columbia is referred to as the Canadian Cascades or, locally, as the Cascade Mountains.
