Bald Hill Radiator is a radio transmission centre at 99 Kluver St, Bald Hills, Queensland, Bald Hills, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is also known as the National Broadcasting Service Radio Transmission Centre. It is listed on the Brisbane Heritage Register. The centre transmits all the Brisbane Am radio, AM radio programmes of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) . The site and infrastructure is now owned by BAI Communications who are contracted to broadcast Australian Broadcasting Corporation, ABC radio and TV signals nationally. History Prior to the 1940s: 4QG and 4QR Initially, radio transmission was totally from within the Brisbane city centre. Bald Hills, Queensland
Bald Hills is the northernmost suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the Bald Hills had a population of 6,502 people. Geography Bald Hills is a largely residential suburb. It is mostly surrounded by bushland, but in the last few years some of the bush areas have been cleared to make way for new residential areas. It also borders onto the Bald Hills Flats – a large flood plain on the western side of the suburb that is used for cattle grazing. The South Pine River flows through the flood plain and forms the western border of the suburb. Shortwave Radio
Shortwave radio is radio transmission using shortwave (SW) radio frequencies. There is no official definition of the band, but the range always includes all of the high frequency band (HF), which extends from 3 to 30 MHz (100 to 10 metres); above the medium frequency band (MF), to the bottom of the VHF band. Radio waves in the shortwave band can be reflected or refracted from a layer of electrically charged atoms in the atmosphere called the ionosphere. MacArthur Chambers
MacArthur Chambers is a heritage-listed former office building at 229 Queen Street (corner of Edward Street), Brisbane City, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Francis Richard Hall and built from 1931 to 1934 by George Alexander Stronach. It was also known as the AMP Building. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992.
