Balanga Cathedral
Balanga Cathedral, formally known as Diocesan Shrine and Cathedral Parish of St. Joseph in Balanga, Bataan, is the seat of the Diocese of Balanga which comprises entire of the civil province of Bataan. Currently, Ernesto B. De Leon and Prudencio “Denz” B. Dumaguing, Jr. serve as the cathedral priests. On March 19, 2015, the cathedral was formally declared a diocesan shrine. History During the Japanese invasion the cathedral was used as an artillery emplacement to bombard Mt. Samat, where the Filipino-American troops made their last stand. Balanga (pronounced ), officially the City of Balanga ( fil, Lungsod ng Balanga), is a 4th class component city and capital of the province of Bataan, Philippines. It is south of San Fernando, Pampanga (the regional city center) and northwest of Manila. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 104,173 people.
