Bala Nagamma (1981 Film)
''Bala Nagamma'' is a 1981 Indian Telugu- and Tamil-language film, directed by K. Shankar for A. Khader's K. B. Creations. The film stars Sarath Babu and Sridevi . Plot Queen Punitha (Vennira Aadai Nirmala) prays to the goddess Nagadevi ( K. R. Vijaya) to have a child as the kingdom has no heirs. The goddess offers her the choice of having a boy but losing her husband or having a girl and losing her own life. She chooses the latter and soon gives birth to a girl, Bala Nagamma. As she is dying, she asks Nagadevi to watch over her child. The king ( S. A. Ashokan) is heart-broken but is convinced to remarry so his daughter can have a mother. He marries Mohana (Manjula) who plots to be rid of Bala Nagamma to secure her own power in the kingdom. She convinces the king that his daughter's horoscope means he will die if Bala Nagamma (Baby Anju) lives. The king is unable to kill his child but abandons her in the forest. Sarath Babu
Sathyam Babu Dixithulu (born 31 July 1951), known by his stage name Sarath Babu, is an Indian actor known for his works predominantly in Tamil and Telugu cinema. He has worked in more than 200 films. He has appeared in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and a few in Malayalam and Hindi. He entered the film industry in 1973 through a Telugu film and later became popular through the Tamil film ''Nizhal Nijamagiradhu'' (1978), directed by K. Balachander. Gopishantha (26 May 1937 – 10 October 2015), better known by her stage name Manorama, also called Aachi, was an Indian actress, playback singer and comedian who had appeared in more than 1000 films and 5000 stage performances and several television series predomninantely in the Tamil language until 2015. She was a recipient of the Kalaimamani award. In 2002, Government of India awarded Manorama the Padma Shri for her contribution to the arts. Pulavar Pulamaipithan (6 October 1935 – 8 September 2021) was an Indian scholar, poet and lyricist who got recognition through the song "Naan yaar nee yaar" which was featured in the Tamil film ''Kudiyirundha Koyil'' in 1968.
