Baku Airport
Heydar Aliyev International Airport ( az, Heydar Aliyev adına Beynəlxalq Hava Limanı) (IATA: GYD, ICAO: UBBB) is one of the seven international airports serving Azerbaijan. Formerly, it was called Bina International Airport after a suburb of Baku. On 10 March 2004, the airport was renamed after president Heydar Aliyev. The airport is 20 kilometers northeast of Azerbaijan capital Baku, connected to the city by a highway. The airport serves as the hub for national carriers Azerbaijan Airlines and Buta Airways. Facilities Terminals The airport consists of two passenger terminals, Terminal 1 being the newer one, and two cargo terminals. Terminal 1 Terminal 1 was commissioned in April 2014. Its total area is 65,000 square meters. The terminal is designed for 6 million passengers per year. It currently serves up to 3 million passengers annually. Azerbaijan (, ; az, Azərbaycan ), officially the Republic of Azerbaijan, , also sometimes officially called the Azerbaijan Republic is a transcontinental country located at the boundary of Eastern Europe and Western Asia.
