Bakhtiyar Shakhabutdinovich Akhmedov (russian: Бахтияр Шахабутдинович Ахмедов, kum, Ахмедланы Багьтияр Шагьабутдинны уланы; born 5 August 1987 in Buynaksk, Dagestan) is a Russian wrestler of Kumyk descent. Olympic gold medalist 2008. Akhmedov competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in 120 kg category. Buynaksk (russian: Буйна́кск; kum, Шура / Темирхан-Шура, ''Şura / Temirxan-Şura'') is a town in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia, located at the foothills of the Greater Caucasus on the Shura-Ozen River, southwest of the republic's capital Makhachkala. Population: 40,000 (1970). History Before 1922 Buynaksk was known as Temir-Khan-Shurá (Темир-Хан-Шура), that is, the lake or cliff of Tamerlane who is said to have camped here in 1396 after defeating Tokhtamysh during the Tokhtamysh-Timur war. It first appears in Russian annals in the 1590s when Muscovite ambassadors passed nearby on their way to Georgia. It remained a small town ruled by a Bek. Artur Taymazov ( os, Таймазты Барисы фырт Артур; russian: Артур Борисович Таймазов; born 20 July 1979) is an Ossetian- Uzbek-Russian wrestler and politician. He was Uzbekistan's most decorated Olympian before being stripped of two gold medals for doping. In 2016, he was elected to the 7th State Duma of the Russian Federation representing United Russia. On 5 April 2017 it was announced that as a result of retesting samples he had been disqualified from the 2008 Olympics for a drug violation, and his gold medal withdrawn. On 23 July 2019 it was announced that as a result of retesting samples he had been disqualified from the 2012 Olympics for a drug violation, and his gold medal from that event also withdrawn.
