Bajawa
Bajawa is a town of Flores, Indonesia and the capital of the Ngada Regency. Ngada Regency is part of East Nusa Tenggara province and located to the east of Ruteng. Bajawa features natural hot springs which are used for bathing and volcanic scenery due to the proximity of the Inierie Volcano. The population is primarily Roman Catholic. Ngada Regency
Ngada Regency is one of the regencies on the island of Flores, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. It is bordered by East Manggarai Regency to the west and Nagekeo Regency to the east, with the Flores Sea to the north and the Sawu Sea to the south. The Regency, which covers an area of 1,620.92 km2, had a population of 142,254 at the 2010 census, which increased to 165,254 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 167,396. The town of Bajawa is the capital of Ngada Regency. History The Ngada Regency is one of the older regencies (''kabupaten'') in East Nusa Tenggara, having been formed in 1958. The regency was split into two on 2 January 2007, with the eastern part being formed into a new Nagekeo Regency. Bajawa Soa Airport, or Bajawa, Turelelo-Soa Airport, is an airport in Bajawa, Indonesia. Inierie is a stratovolcano located in the south-central part of the island of Flores, Indonesia, overlooking the Savu Sea. It is the highest volcano on the island. The volcano looms over the little town of Bajawa and its upper slopes are bare without any vegetation. The volcano is not active but there were reports of smoke emerging from the crater in June 1911. The Lesser Sunda Islands or nowadays known as Nusa Tenggara Islands ( id, Kepulauan Nusa Tenggara, formerly ) are an archipelago in Maritime Southeast Asia, north of Australia. Together with the Greater Sunda Islands to the west they make up the Sunda Islands. The islands are part of a volcanic arc, the Sunda Arc, formed by subduction along the Sunda Trench in the Java Sea.
