''Baizuo'' (, Mandarin pronunciation: ; literally "white left") is a Chinese neologism used to refer to Western world, Western leftist ideologies primarily espoused by white people. The term ''baizuo'' is related to the term (; literally "Holy Mother") or (; literally "Holy Mother"), a reference to those whose political opinions are perceived as being overly driven by emotion. Definition "Baizuo" is a popular political epithet commonly used on the Chinese Internet. The literal translation is "white left" which refers to western white liberal leftists. According to Chinese political scientist Chenchen Zhang, the word "Baizuo" refers to those who "only care about topics such as immigration, minorities, LGBT rights and the environment", but lack a concept of "real problems in the real world". The regressive left (also called regressive liberals or regressive leftists) is a term for a branch of left-wing politics that is accused of being accepting of or sympathetic to views that conflict with liberal principles, particularly by tolerating Islamism. The term white savior is a critical description of a white person who is depicted as liberating, rescuing or uplifting non-white people; it is critical in the sense that it describes a pattern in which people of color in economically under-developed nations that are majority non-white are denied agency and are seen as passive recipients of white benevolence. The role is considered a modern-day version of what is expressed in the poem ''The White Man's Burden'' (1899) by Rudyard Kipling. Champagne socialist is a political term commonly used in the United Kingdom. It is a popular epithet that implies a degree of hypocrisy, and it is closely related to the concept of the liberal elite. Boba liberal is a term mostly used within the Asian diaspora communities in the West, especially in the United States. It describes someone of East or Southeast Asian descent living in the West who has a superficial liberal or centrist outlook. The neologism emerged as "boba liberals" were accused of only holding these beliefs to appear more White Americans, white adjacent, such as engaging in progressive social movements or viewpoints, but at the same time disregarding, disparaging and trivializing issues concerning Asians.
