Baituna Al-Talhami Museum
Baituna al-Talhami Museum ( ar, متحف بيتنا التلحمي), also known as Bethlehem Folklore Museum or The Museum of Traditional and Popular Art, is a museum located in Bethlehem, Palestine, on Star Street, slightly off Pope Paul VI Street. Its rooms are designed to resemble those in a traditional nineteenth-century Palestinian home, containing a selection of pictures, clothing and jewelry, alongside the tools used to produce them. Bethlehem
Bethlehem (; ar, بيت لحم ; he, בֵּית לֶחֶם '' '') is a city in the central West Bank, Palestine, about south of Jerusalem. Star Street
Star Street ( ar, شارع النجمة) is one of Bethlehem's oldest commercial streets, connecting the northern part of the Old City to the southern part. Most of the buildings along Star Street were built in the 19th century. Prior to the Second Intifada in 2001, there were 98 shops on Star Street. Due to a sharp decline in tourism in Bethlehem because of the violence, nearly half were closed. However, in 2008, the number of shops increased to 63. Palestinian refugees are citizens of Mandatory Palestine, and their descendants, who fled or were expelled from their country over the course of the 1947–49 Palestine war ( 1948 Palestinian exodus) and the Six-Day War ( 1967 Palestinian exodus). Palestinian traditional costumes are the types of clothing historically and sometimes still presently worn by Palestinians. Divan-khane ( fa, دیوانخانه) is a Persian phrase from (''divan'' = court) + ('' khane'' = house) to describe a guest house or room. It is akin to the great hall of medieval Europe. In tribal Middle Eastern, Arab, Persian, and Kurdish societies, a guest house of the tribal chieftain is used mostly for discussing tribal affairs. This served as an institution dedicated to the political and social affairs of the tribe. The al-Bad Museum for Olive Oil Production ( ar, متحف البد), also known as Badd Jackaman Museum ( ar, متحف بد جقمان, also known as the al-Bad Museum for Olive Oil Production) is located in the center of Bethlehem, Palestine, near the Church of the Nativity.
