Baine Harbour is a Canadian community in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador northeast of Marystown. History In 1911 it had one store, one church and one hotel. The way office was established in 1883. The first way master was Lemuel Roberts. The first postmaster was W. Rodway in 1949. It was incorporated as a "government community" in 1970. Baïne
A baïne is a pool of water of a few dozen to several hundred metres in length, parallel to the beach and directly connected to the sea. Each one is spaced every 300 to 400 metres and formed under the influence of Water waves, waves and the tide. The French term ''baïne'' is typical for the Aquitaine coast of France in the departements of Gironde, Charente-Maritime and Landes (department), Landes, but it can occur on beaches throughout the world. When a wave hits the coast, it can pass over the sandbar that separates the ''baïne'' from the sea and enter it all along its length. When the wave subsequently recedes, the ''baïne'' water is pushed out through the single point where it was connected to the sea. Baine Kerr
Baine Perkins Kerr (August 24, 1919 – May 20, 2008) was a prominent Houston lawyer who was a partner in the law firm of Baker and Botts, where he managed the corporate law department, before he joined Pennzoil. Career Kerr was president of Pennzoil and on the board of directors from 1964 to 1994. He served in World War II, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He married Mildred C. Kerr in 1942, with whom he would raise four children, Baine P. Kerr, Jr., John Caldwell Kerr, James Robinson Kerr, and Mary Kerr. In the 1980s he served on the "Energy Engineering Board" of the National Research Council. In 1989 he was paid a $10 million bonus for his work on a lawsuit for Pennzoil that resulted in a $3 billion settlement from Texaco. James Baine
James Baine (1710–1790) was one of the ministers of the secession from the Church of Scotland which took the name of the Relief Church. Life Baine was the son of the parish minister of Bonhill, Dumbartonshire, and born in the manse there in 1710. His elementary education was received at the parish school. He afterwards proceeded to the university of Glasgow. He had a brilliant career there and graduated M.A. Having been licensed as a preacher of the gospel, he was presented by the Duke of Montrose to the church of Killearn, the parish adjoining his father's. In 1756 he was translated to the high church of Paisley, and in 1757 had the celebrated Dr. John Witherspoon for a colleague. Baine supported evangelical doctrine, as opposed to what came to be known as moderatism. In 1745 he was promoting revival in the west of Scotland.
