A badminton tournament was held at the 1999 Southeast Asian Games in Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex, Bandar Seri Begawan from 8 to 14 August 1999. Both men and women competed in their own team, singles, and doubles events and together they competed in a mixed doubles event. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium
Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. It is currently used mostly for association football matches. The stadium holds 28,000 and was opened on 23 September 1983. It was named after Bruneian Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. Construction Unusually for a public building in Brunei, members of the public donated and contributed towards the building of the stadium. Although the final collection of $1,102,761.57 accounted for a little more than 1.1 percent of the total building cost ($100 million), the public participation showed the Bruneians' great interest and support for this project. The entire project cost for the stadium is about $100 million. Building The stadium is long and wide. It can accommodate 30,000 spectators, which includes 110 seats for the royalties, 500 for the VIPs, and 3,000 in the grandstand section. Flandy Limpele (born 9 February 1974) is an Indonesian former badminton player and coach. He competed in four Summer Olympic Games: Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, and Beijing 2008. Chor Hooi Yee
Chor Hooi Yee (born 4 May 1979) is a Malaysian former badminton player. Chor was the women's doubles silver medalist at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur partnered with Lim Pek Siah, also helped the team reach the final and clinch the silver medal. Teamed-up with Chew Choon Eng in the mixed doubles, they claimed the gold medal at the 1999 Southeast Asian Games in Brunei. Chew Choon Eng (born 28 May 1976) is a former Malaysian badminton player. Currently, he is coaching Malaysian professional pair consist of 2016 Olympic Games silver medallist, Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying and Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong. Captain Saralee Thungthongkam ( th, สราลีย์ ทุ่งทองคำ ผู้พัน หรือน.อ.ส้ม; ; born 13 June 1979) is a Thai retired badminton player. She graduated with a master's degree in Communication Arts from Bangkok University. Career Thungthongkam made her debut at the Olympic Games in 2000 Sydney. Eti Lesmina Tantra (; born 14 October 1975), is an Indonesian badminton player of Chinese descent. She has represented Indonesia and the United States in international tournaments.
