Badgingarra Wind Farm
Badgingarra Wind Farm is a wind farm in the locality of Hill River northwest of the town of Badgingarra in Western Australia, about north of Perth. It is owned by APA Group and located immediately north of the older Emu Downs Wind Farm which has the same owner. Construction of Badgingarra Wind Farm began in November 2017 and it was completed in early 2019. It consists of 37 Siemens wind turbine generators, each generating 3.6 MW of electricity. The turbine hubs are above the ground, and the rotor tips reach . APA Group is also constructing the Badgingarra Solar Farm adjacent to the wind farm to provide 17.5 MW of solar photovoltaic generation. Badgingarra, Western Australia
Badgingarra is a small town in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, about north of Perth in the Shire of Dandaragan. It lies on the Brand Highway adjacent to the Badgingarra National Park. History The town was gazetted in 1955 and takes its name from nearby Badgingarra Pool. "Badgingarra" is a Noongar word said to mean "water by the manna gums". The district was originally surveyed in the 1880s; however, due to the widespread presence of poisonous plants in the area and non-conducive soil types, the land was not developed for agriculture. Little settlement occurred until the 1950s, when the use of trace elements such as zinc and copper in fertilisers allowed for farming to occur on the sandy soils around Badgingarra. Emu Downs Wind Farm
The Emu Downs Wind Farm () is a 79.2 MW wind farm in Western Australia. It was a 50:50 joint development between Griffin Energy and Stanwell Corporation. The site is approximately 200 kilometres north of Perth, near Cervantes. Construction of the $180 million project commenced in November 2005, and the project was commissioned in October 2006. Emu Downs consists of 48 Vestas wind turbines (each with 1.65 MW generating capacity), a substation, interconnection to the main 132 kV electricity grid, administration and stores buildings, and a network of access roads. William Joseph Johnston (born 11 August 1962) is an Australian politician. He has been a Labor Party member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly since the 2008 state election, representing Cannington. While still a student Johnston spent time abroad as an American Field Service exchange student to Bandung, Indonesia. He is married to Kate Doust, the member for the South Metropolitan Region.
