Baden Masters
The Baden Masters is an annual men's curling tournament, held in early September/late August in Baden, Switzerland. It is the first curling tournament of the European Curling Champions Tour (CCT) season and is part of the World Curling Tour. It was first held in 2000 and it became a CCT event in 2005. In 2021, for the first time in the event's twenty-one year history, two women's teams competed alongside the men's field: 2018 Olympic Gold Medalists Team Anna Hasselborg from Sweden and Team Irene Schori of Limmattal, Switzerland ). Baden, Switzerland
Baden (German for "baths"), sometimes unofficially, to distinguish it from other Badens, called Baden bei Zürich ("Baden near Zürich") or Baden im Aargau ("Baden in the Aargau"), is a town and a municipality in Switzerland. Kerry Burtnyk
Kerry Burtnyk (born November 24, 1958) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He grew up in Reston, Manitoba. He is a two time Canadian champion skip, and the 1995 World Champion skip. He is currently the coach of the Darcy Robertson rink. Career Burtnyk's first Brier in 1981 would be a success for him. His Manitoba team of Mark Olson, Jim Spencer and Ron Kammerlock defeated Northern Ontario, skipped by Al Hackner in the final. Burtnyk became the youngest skip to win the Brier in history, as he was 22 years and 4 months old at the time. At that year's World Championship, Burtnyk would have to settle for the bronze medal. Burtnyk returned to the Brier in 1988, but he missed the playoffs despite a 7–4 record. He returned to the Brier once again in 1995 where he would win his second Brier with teammates Jeff Ryan, Rob Meakin and Keith Fenton. Flemming Davanger
Flemming Davanger (born 1 April 1963 in Bergen, Norway) is a Norwegian curler from Bærum. Curling career In his third World Junior Curling Championships in , Davanger, playing second Pål Trulsen's Norwegian team picked up a silver medal, losing to Canada's John Base in the final. In , Davanger played in his first World Curling Championships playing third for Tormod Andreassen, and they finished in sixth place. Later that year, the team picked up a bronze at the 1986 European Curling Championships. Davanger's next success would come at the 1992 Winter Olympics, when curling was a demonstration sport. Davanger, now playing second for Andreassen would bring home the silver medal for Norway, much to the delight of his coach Forest Juziuk. Lars Vågberg
Lars Vågberg (born 30 June 1967 in Sollefteå, Sweden) is a Norwegian curler from Bærum. Vågberg began his international curling career in Sweden. In his first international tournament, he was the second Mikael Hasselborg's 1990 European Curling Championships winning team. With Hasselborg, he would finish 7th at the World Curling Championships in 1992 and won a bronze medal at the 1994 European Championships. By 1997 Vågberg had moved to Norway. The 1997 World Championships would be the first for Vågberg as a Norwegian, and he played third for Pål Trulsen. While they finished 7th that year, the team would later go on to win two bronze medals (2001, 2003) and a silver (2002) at the Worlds. Pål Trulsen (born 19 April 1962 in Drøbak, Norway) is a Norwegian curler from Hosle in Bærum, and was the 2002 Olympic curling men's champion. Career Trulsen participated in both the and World Junior Championships, finishing both tournaments with 2-7 and 4-5 records respectively. However, after participating in the and European championships, he was back at the juniors in where he won the silver medal, losing to Canada's John Base in the final. It took Trulsen 9 more years to get back on the world stage, at the 1992 Winter Olympics, where curling was a demonstration sport. At this event he won a silver medal, losing to Switzerland's Urs Dick in the final. Thomas Lips (born 27 February 1970) is a Switzerland, Swiss curling, curler from Buchs, Zürich. Lips was a member of the Swiss team that won the 2006 European Curling Championships. Curling career Lips started playing curling in 1977. He won a bronze medal at the 1991 European Curling Championships, playing lead for Daniel Model. He would not return the Euros until 2003. Playing third for Bernhard Werthemann, they finished fourth. They finished sixth at the 2004 Ford World Men's Curling Championship.
