Badarpur Assembly constituency is one of the 126 constituencies of the Legislative Assembly of Assam state in northeastern India. Badarpur (constituency number 5) is one of the 5 constituencies located in Barak Valley of Karimganj district. Assam

Abdul Jalil Choudhury
ʿAbd al-Jalīl ibn Aṣghar Choudhury al-Badarfūrī ( ar, عبد الجليل بن أصغر تشودهري البدرفوري; 19 December 1989), or simply Abdul Jalil Choudhury Badarpuri ( bn, আব্দুল জলিল চৌধুরী বদরপুরী), was a Bengali Deobandi Islamic scholar, teacher and politician. Born in what is now Bangladesh, Choudhury became one of the senior disciples of Hussain Ahmed Madani from Sylhet District. He relocated to Badarpur, Karimganj following the Partition of Bengal in 1947 and served as a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly for several terms. Choudhury has many contributions in Northeast India, covering Islamic and social development, and had participated in the Bengali Language Movement of the Barak Valley. 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly Election
The Assam Legislative Assembly Election of 2016 was held in two phases, on 4 and 11 April 2016, to elect members of the 126 constituencies in Assam, a state in North-eastern India. The overall voter turnout was 84.72%, which set a new record for Assam. The turnout was an increase from the 2011 Assembly election figure of 75%. The counting of votes and results declaration was completed on 19 May 2016. The All India United Democratic Front (also known as AIUDF and ''Sarva Bharatiya Sanyukt Ganatantric Morcha'') is a political party active in the Indian state of Assam. Gulam Subhany Choudhury
Gulam (circa 1860-1901) was an Indian practitioner of pehlwani. Gulam participated in early catch wrestling tournaments in Europe. At 5 feet 9 inches and 280 pounds, Gulam wrestled in Paris in 1900 at the time of 1900 World's Fair. In Paris, Gulam's manager extended a challenge to Turkish wrestler Kurtdereli Mehmet Pehlivan. Pandit Motilal Nehru was in attendance during the wrestling bout in Paris. Edmond Desbonnet’s account of the bout was given in his 1910 book, ''Les Rois de la Lutte''. According to this account, the newcomer dominated Kurtdereli. In order to avoid harming the financial interests of those who bet on Kurtdereli, the bets on the bout were called off. Gulam was proclaimed the winner, but all bets were reimbursed. Gulam returned to India where, shortly after 1900, he died of cholera.
