Backyardigans
''The Backyardigans'' is a computer-animated musical children's television series created by Janice Burgess. The series was written and recorded at Nickelodeon Animation Studio. It centers on five animal neighbors who imagine themselves on fantastic adventures in their backyard. Each episode is set to a different musical genre and features four songs, composed by Evan Lurie with lyrics by McPaul Smith. The Backyardigans' adventures span many different genres and settings. The show's writers took inspiration from action-adventure movies, and many episodes are parodies of movies. Nickelodeon called the show "a home-grown Nick Jr. property," as "the whole creative team... adbeen part of the Nick Jr. family for years." Creator Janice Burgess had worked as Nick Jr.'s production executive since the mid-1990s. Janice Burgess
Janice Burgess (born 1954) is a former television executive, writer, and producer for Nickelodeon. She created the Nick Jr. series ''The Backyardigans'' and worked as a writer and creative director for Nickelodeon's revival of ''Winx Club''. Evan Lurie (composer)
Evan Lurie (born 1954 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States) is an American composer and musician. Playing piano and occasionally organ, Evan was a founding member of the band The Lounge Lizards, along with his saxophonist brother John Lurie. Lurie started producing music for Nickelodeon in 2001, as the composer for their show ''Oswald''. He was later the music director for all four seasons of the Nick Jr. series ''The Backyardigans'', which features a different musical genre in every episode. In 2011, Lurie composed an unused song for Nickelodeon's ''Winx Club'' (a show that many other ''Backyardigans'' crew members worked on, including creator Janice Burgess). Douglas Wieselman
Douglas Joel Wieselman (born November 30, 1954) is an American composer and jazz reedist. He plays primarily clarinet and tenor saxophone, though he occasionally also plays soprano and baritone saxophone. Early life and education Wieselman was born in Los Angeles. He earned a bachelor's degree in music at University of California, Santa Cruz in 1976, where he first played with Wayne Horvitz; he played with Horvitz extensively into the 1990s. Career In 1982, Wieselman began working with Robin Holcomb, and played with her again from 1987 to 1996. In the late 1980s he also worked with Bill Frisell, Guy Klucevsek, and Anthony Coleman. Kay Wilson Stallings is an American television executive and producer. She worked at Nickelodeon as a network executive from 1999 until March 2015, when she left the company due to a wave of senior employee layoffs.
