Backstage (South African TV Series)
''Backstage'' is a South African youth-targeted soap opera produced by Bottom Line Productions. The story is set at the fictional Vulindlela College, a performing arts college for youth in Johannesburg. The series originally aired on e.tv from 1 May 2000 to 6 July 2007, airing on weekday evenings at 18:30. The show was later cancelled and aired its last broadcast on 6 July 2007. A rebroadcast of ''Backstage'' premiered on e.tv on 5 January 2009, at 16:40. Synopsis ''Backstage'' is a youth-soap opera in which kids from different backgrounds in South Africa come to a college of performing arts in downtown Johannesburg. SABC 1
SABC 1 is a South African public television network operated by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) which carries programming in English and Nguni. It was created in 1996, after the SABC restructured its television channels. SABC 1 carried much of its programming over from the defunct CCV (Contemporary Community Values) network, which was itself made up of the former TV2, TV3 and TV4 timeshared channels created in the 1980s. South African Drama Television Series

Isidingo
''Isidingo'' is a South African soap opera, with dialogue mostly in English and isiXhosa. The series premiered on SABC 3 in July 1998 and was broadcast evenings on SABC 3 from Monday to Friday at 19:00. Until 2001 it was titled ''Isidingo: The Need''. Created by Gray Hofmeyr, the story is loosely based on another popular soap opera created by Hofmeyr, ''The Villagers'', that was broadcast during the apartheid era in South Africa. SABC 3 (stylised as S3) is a South African free-to-air public television network owned by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). It carries programming in English and, few in other South African languages. It has a number of its own reality and talk shows and had lately introduced a new series called “The Estate”. 7de Laan
''7de Laan'' is a South African Afrikaans soap opera created by Danie Odendaal and produced by Danie Odendaal Productions. The series focuses on the lives of residents staying in and around the community of 7de Laan (7th Avenue), in the suburb of Hillside. The programme's dialogue is primarily in Afrikaans and is subtitled in English with some English and Zulu dialogue in between. The street and shopfronts which are featured on the opening visuals, are that of Seventh Street in Melville, Johannesburg. History Odendaal originally conceived of the series when he was a resident of the Melville section of Johannesburg. At the time, Odendaal would watch the people of his community over breakfast and a cup of coffee at his favourite coffee shop. He would make up fictitious characters based on what he saw. ''Generations'' was a South African soap opera which first premiered on SABC 1 in 1993. It was created and produced by Mfundi Vundla and aired weekdays at 20:00 UTC+2 (South African Standard Time) on SABC 1. Set against the backdrop of the advertising industry, this drama celebrated the hopes and dreams of South Africans who aspire to a better future. The show received overwhelmingly positive reviews, being among the most-watched local television shows throughout its long run. Production on the show stopped on 11 August 2014, when 16 principal actors began withholding their services following wage disputes, a cut of R500 million in royalties and three-year extended contracts. Duncan Austin Lawson is a British mathematician known for work in mathematics education including university-wide mathematics and statistics support. Early life and education Lawson attended Bury Grammar School and later obtained a BA and D.Phil. from the University of Oxford. Career Lawson worked for British Gas plc before moving to Coventry University in 1987. His research interests are in efficient computational methods for the calculation of thermal radiative heat transfer. From 2005-10 Lawson with Tony Croft established the sigma Centre for Excellence in University-wide mathematics and statistics support, which was awarded the 2011 Times Higher Education Award for Outstanding Support for Students.
