Back To The Primitive
"Back to the Primitive" is a heavy metal song by Soulfly, released in 2000. The song, composed by Max Cavalera, is played as the first track of the second Soulfly album, '' Primitive''. Music and lyrics The song features simple downtuned riffs, plus tribal drumming and blabbering; it also plays berimbau to begin the song. Lyrically, this political song is about demoting national government back to local tribal society. Every choruses begin with 'Back to the Primitive', except for the first line of lyric ' ("one, two, three, four" in Portuguese) to begin the song, and verses containing just "primitive" per line. Music video The song begins with a berimbau, but it is not the case for the accompanying music video. Instead, the intro plays tribal percussion with 'Soulfly' chants alternately by Cavalera and spectators; the berimbau is shown, but not heard. Marcelo "Cello" Dias is a Brazilian musician. He is the bassist of Against All Will and former bassist of Soulfly. Biography The Mist Dias began his career in 1988 playing bass for the Brazilian thrash metal band The Mist, who had just changed their name from Mayhem following a number of lineup changes. On their first album ''Phantasmagoria'' released in 1989, they most notably featured Chakal singer Vladimir Korg on vocals and boasted a twin guitar lineup displaying a progressive mix of aggressive thrash and gothic atmosphere. John Bolloten, also known as The Rootsman, is a musician and DJ based in Bradford, England. Bolloten is also a social documentary photographer. Early life Bolloten was born in Brighton. Andy Wallace (born 1947 in New Jersey) is an American music studio producer, audio and mixing engineer with a long track record of productions. Over the years, he focused exclusively on mixing.
