Back To Back Theatre
Back to Back Theatre is one of the leading contemporary Australian theater companies engaging with disability on stage. The company is based in Geelong, Victoria creating its work nationally and touring around the world. The work produced by the company explores questions about politics, ethics and philosophy in humanity. The company originated in 1987, and a year later their first performance Big Bag was put on stage. In 1999 the company gained an Artistic Director Bruce Gladwin who helped nurture company's unique artistic voice with an emphasis on the ensemble's own commentaries on broad social and cultural dialogue. Created through a process of research, improvisation and scripting, new work is realized via collaboration between the ensemble, artistic director and guest artists. The ensemble currently consists of six actors, all of whom are neurodivergent or disabled. International Ibsen Award
The International Ibsen Award (Norwegian: ''Den internasjonale Ibsenprisen'') honours an individual, institution or organization that has brought new artistic dimensions to the world of drama or theater. The committee consists of figures in the theatre community. The prize was established by the Norwegian government in 2008, using the name of playwright Henrik Ibsen. It has no relation to Henrik Ibsen or the Ibsen family, and is solely the initiative of the Norwegian government. The winner is announced on 20 March, which is also Henrik Ibsen's birthday, and the prize consists of NOK 2,5 millions making it one of the richest literary prizes in the world. The Green Room Awards are peer awards which recognise excellence in cabaret, dance, drama, fringe theatre, musical theatre and opera in Melbourne. The awards were started in 1982 when Blair Edgar and Steven Tandy formed the Green Room Awards Association. The inaugural awards ceremony was held in 1984 at the Melbourne Concert Hall.
