"Back of My Hand" is a power pop song by The Jags, written by Nick Watkinson and guitarist John Alder which entered the UK Singles Chart on 8 September 1979. It had a chart life of 10 weeks and peaked at number 17. In the US, the song peaked at number 84 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. There are three distinct versions of the song. Version 1 (original single mix) In its original version, the song was produced by Jon Astley and Phil Chapman. This version appears on the initial Jags release, a 4-track 12" EP entitled ''4-Track 12" E.P.'' It was also the original 7" U.K. single mix, before quickly being replaced by the remix below. Version 2 (hit single mix) The hit single version uses the same basic recording as version 1, but was remixed by Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes and features additional synths and keyboard parts. The Jags
The Jags were a British rock band formed in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England, in 1978, composed of Nicole Watkinson (vocals), John Alder (guitar/backing vocals), Steve Prudence ( bass), firstly Neil Whittaker and then Alex Baird (drums), Michael Cotton (bass/backing vocals) and Patrick O'Toole (piano/keyboard). A Scarborough-Guildford-Glasgow combo, The Jags marked their signing to Island Records in 1979 with a four-track debut 12” EP ("Back of My Hand" / "Double Visions" / "Single Visions" / "What Can I Do?"). "Back of My Hand" was described as "simply one of the best records Elvis Costello didn't write". The song was included on the band's debut album ''Evening Standards'', which was released the following year. ''Ready Steady Go!'' is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Drake Bell. It marks his third release on an independent record label, and his first for Surfdog Records. The album is Bell's first album in almost eight years, following ''It's Only Time'', which was released in 2006. Originally slated for an early 2013 release, ''Ready, Steady, Go!'' was released on April 22, 2014. The lead single, "Bitchcraft", was released on January 28, 2014. The album's promotional single, "I Won't Stand In Your Way", was released on April 17, 2014. "Bull" was a hit in Mexico, peaking at number 8. Geoff Downes
Geoffrey Downes (born 25 August 1952) is an English keyboardist who gained fame as a member of the new wave group The Buggles with Trevor Horn, the progressive rock band Yes, and the supergroup Asia. Born in Stockport, Downes moved to London to pursue a music career. In 1977, he formed The Buggles with Horn and enjoyed success with their first album ''The Age of Plastic'' (1980) which included the worldwide hit single "Video Killed the Radio Star". In May 1980, Downes joined Yes with Horn and recorded ''Drama'' (1980). After Yes disbanded in 1981, Downes helped Trevor Horn to produce a second Buggles album, ''Adventures in Modern Recording'' (1981) although he was only primarily involved for half of it, and co-founded Asia with ex-Yes fellow musician Steve Howe. Trevor Horn
Trevor Charles Horn (born 15 July 1949) is an English music producer, label and recording studio owner, musician and composer. He is best known for his production work in the 1980s, and for being one half of the new wave band The Buggles (with Geoff Downes). Horn took up the bass guitar at an early age and taught himself the instrument and to sight-read music. In the 1970s, he worked as a session musician, built his own studio, and wrote and produced singles for various artists. Horn and Downes gained international fame in 1979 with the Buggles' hit single "Video Killed the Radio Star". This was followed by their one-year tenure with the progressive rock band Yes, with Horn becoming their lead singer.
