Back From Eternity
''Back from Eternity'' is a 1956 American drama film about a planeload of people stranded in the South American jungle and subsequently menaced by headhunters. The film stars Robert Ryan, Rod Steiger, Anita Ekberg and Gene Barry. The film is a remake of the 1939 film ''Five Came Back'', also directed and produced by John Farrow. Richard Carroll, who is credited with writing the story for ''Back from Eternity'', wrote the original story for ''Five Came Back''. Plot A Douglas DC-2, from a tiny South American airline, is piloted by Captain Bill Lonagan and co-pilot Joe Brooks, bound for Boca Grande. John Farrow
John Villiers Farrow, KGCHS (10 February 190427 January 1963) was an Australian film director, producer, and screenwriter. Spending a considerable amount of his career in the United States, in 1942 he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director for ''Wake Island'', and in 1957 he won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for ''Around the World in Eighty Days''. He had seven children by his wife, actress Maureen O'Sullivan, including actress Mia Farrow. Charles Meredith (August 27, 1894 – November 28, 1964) was an American film and television actor. Biography Meredith was born in Knoxville, Pennsylvania. He was a popular silent film leading man and played opposite such actresses as Blanche Sweet, Mary Miles Minter, Florence Vidor, and others in romantic drama and comedy films. In 1924, he left his film career for work on the stage. He returned to film in 1947 where he played a number of small character roles. Toward the end of his career, he turned to television as well, notably as Secretary Drake in the ''Rocky Jones, Space Ranger'' (1954) series. Joe Gray (May 5, 1912 – March 15, 1971) was an American boxer, actor, and stuntman. Biography Joe Gray was raised in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Los Angeles in 1936 at the suggestion of his brother Mack Gray, George Raft's associate. His film career included some of the most iconic boxing films ever made (''City for Conquest, Body and Soul, Champion''). He made appearances in over 125 films in numerous uncredited roles, including 10 of Frank Sinatra's films and 32 of Dean Martin's films. Gray was Martin's stunt double in all of Martin's films through 1971. Jonathan Bion Provost (born March 12, 1950) is an American actor, best known for his role as young Timmy Martin in the CBS series '' Lassie''. Life and career Provost was born in Los Angeles. Adele Mara (born Adelaida Delgado; April 28, 1923 – May 7, 2010) was an American actress, singer, and dancer, who appeared in films during the 1940s and 1950s and on television in the 1950s and 1960s.
