Bacilos is a music group based in Miami, Florida, US. A leading practitioner of latin pop, the band had several hits on the Billboard Latin charts and had considerable success in the Latin Grammies, most notably, their album '' Caraluna'' which won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album, and album ''Sin Vergüenza'' which was nominated in 2005 for the same award. Band history The band was formed in 1997 by three students of the University of Miami. Originally a quartet, the band drew influences from Cuban folk singer Silvio Rodríguez and Argentinian rock singer Fito Páez. The band eventually became a trio consisting of Colombian singer and guitarist Jorge Villamizar, Brazilian bassist André Lopes and Puerto Rican percussionist José Javier Freire before releasing an independent album ''Madera'' in 1999. Latin Grammy Awards Of 2001
The winners of the Second Annual Latin Grammy Awards were announced during a press conference on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at the Conga Room in Los Angeles, California. The conference, which was broadcast live on the internet, was hosted by Jimmy Smits and Paul Rodriguez. Alejandro Sanz was the big winner winning four awards including Album of the Year. Juanes won three awards including Best New Artist. Cancellation Prior to the date of the event, the Latin Grammys were moved from Miami to Los Angeles due to protests by Cuban exiles for allowing musicians living in Cuba to perform. The awards were to have been presented at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles CA with a CBS national telecast on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. David Richard Campbell (born 7 February 1948) is a Canadian-American arranger, composer, and conductor. He has worked on over 450 gold and platinum albums by artists of a wide range of genres, including Rush, Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, Muse, Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, Evanescence, Beyoncé, Aerosmith, Garth Brooks, and various albums by his son Beck. Early life and education Campbell was born in Toronto, Ontario. His father, D. Warren Campbell, was from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and was attending seminary in Toronto in order to become a Presbyterian minister. Campbell subsequently was assigned to a church in Pittsburgh, taking his family with him, before settling in Seattle. Campbell took up the violin at age 9.
