Step By Step (New Kids On The Block Album)
''Step by Step'' is the third studio album by American boy band New Kids on the Block, released in June 1990 via Columbia Records. Background and release At the time of release the group was very popular and was being heavily merchandised, with everything from pillowcases, marbles, dolls, to a Saturday morning cartoon with their name and likeness. Before the album release Columbia Records received advance orders of more than two million copies of the album, and the demand put the company's pressing plants into overtime production. ''Step by Step'' went to number one on both the ''Billboard'' 200 and the UK Albums Chart, with the lead-off title track single topping the charts simultaneously and selling nearly three million copies, making it their highest selling single. No More Games/The Remix Album
''No More Games: The Remix Album'' is a remix album from pop group New Kids on the Block. It peaked at number 19 on the US ''Billboard'' 200. Background and production By early 1991, the ever-shifting status of musical trends had begun to take its toll on the enormous popularity of the New Kids on the Block. Only two years before, the group had taken the U.S. (and the world) by storm with its seminal second release, ''Hangin' Tough''. In June 1990, the album '' Step by Step'' would spawn the group's most successful single, the title track. After the final single from the album, "Let's Try It Again", failed to crack the top forty, a seeming backlash had become evident. Sensing this, group member Donnie Wahlberg led the group in coordinating this remix album, which fused the "harder" elements of hip-hop and urban dance into the New Kids' sound, resulting in ''No More Games'', ''No Mas Juegos'' and ''No More Games/The Remix Album''—with a significant portion of the album remi ...

Pop Music
Pop music is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern form during the mid-1950s in the United States and the United Kingdom. The terms ''popular music'' and ''pop music'' are often used interchangeably, although the former describes all music that is popular and includes many disparate styles. During the 1950s and 1960s, pop music encompassed rock and roll and the youth-oriented styles it influenced. ''Rock'' and ''pop'' music remained roughly synonymous until the late 1960s, after which ''pop'' became associated with music that was more commercial, ephemeral, and accessible. Although much of the music that appears on record charts is considered to be pop music, the genre is distinguished from chart music. Identifying factors usually include repeated choruses and hooks, short to medium-length songs written in a basic format (often the verse-chorus structure), and rhythms or tempos that can be easily danced to. Much pop music also borrows elements from other styles ...

Call It What You Want (New Kids On The Block Song)
"Call It What You Want" is a 1991 song by New Kids on the Block. Written and produced by Maurice Starr, the original version appears on the group's third album '' Step By Step.'' A club/house remix produced by Robert Clivillés & David Cole, which also featured a rap intro by Freedom Williams, later appeared on the group's 1990 hits compilation, '' No More Games/The Remix Album'' and would ultimately serve as the second single to be released from that album. The lead vocals were sung by Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, and Donnie Wahlberg. Release and reception Upon its release, the song was another single that received decent (though not enthusiastic) airplay in North America during the spring months of 1991 and could be considered the "last hurrah" in terms of singles from the group's initial run. The single peaked at #12 on the UK Singles Chart. While the group played this song in concert during their 1994 Face the Music Tour, it was not played again until the New Kids on th ...

If You Go Away (New Kids On The Block Song)
"If You Go Away" is a song by American pop group New Kids on the Block (although the group was credited under the moniker of NKOTB on the jacket.) Released as a stand-alone single on 1992, the only new song on the compilation '' H.I.T.S.'', it was later included on their 1994 album '' Face the Music''. Written by John Bettis, Trey Lorenz and Walter Afanasieff, the latter of whom also served as the songs producer. Lead vocals are shared by Jordan Knight and Joey McIntyre, with a spoken word by Danny Wood. It was, at that point, the first song the group put out after having split with longtime manager and producer Maurice Starr. Reception The song returned the group to the US top twenty, peaking at number sixteen on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number nine on the UK Singles Chart, and was a commercial rebound for the group after having seen its three previous songs all fail to reach the Billboard Hot 100. The group performed the song on ''The Arsenio Hall Show'', while addressing ...

The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. This tracking period also applies to compiling online streaming data.
