Babushka Adoption Foundation
Babushka Adoption Foundation is a charitable non-governmental organization based in Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan. It was founded in 1999 by Markus Muller; the director is Aidai Kadyrova. The main goal of the foundation is to provide support to elderly people in Kyrgyzstan who do not have any family members that can care for them. This is exactly what its name suggests, as the term "babushka" is Russian for "grandmother" or "old lady". The objective of Babushka Adoption is not to replace Kyrgyz social institutions, but to work with them to help Kyrgyz pensioners. A sponsor can adopt an elderly person for 15 euro a month; this amount will help provide clothing, food, medical care, and other important necessities. Bishkek
Bishkek ( ky, Бишкек), ), formerly Pishpek and Frunze, is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is also the administrative centre of the Chüy Region. The region surrounds the city, although the city itself is not part of the region but rather a region-level unit of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is situated near the Kazakhstan–Kyrgyzstan border. Its population was 1,074,075 in 2021. In 1825, the Khanate of Kokand established the fortress of Pishpek to control local caravan routes and to collect tribute from Kyrgyz tribes. Markus Müller (physician)
Markus Müller (born August 23, 1967 in Klagenfurt) is an Austrian pharmacologist. In 2015 he began serving as Rector of the Medical University of Vienna. Early life Müller graduated from high school in 1985 at the Theresianum in Vienna and studied medicine at the University of Vienna. He earned his medical doctor in 1993 with ''sub auspiciis Praesidentis'' honors. Career He specialized in internal medicine at Vienna General Hospital from 1993 to 2000. Batken
Batken (also called Batkent) is a town in southwestern Kyrgyzstan, on the southern fringe of the Fergana Valley. It is the administrative seat of Batken Region. Since 2000, it is a city of regional significance, i.e. not part of a district. However, it is still the administrative seat of Batken District.
