Margot Walter, also known as Margot Landa (4 October 1903 in Potsdam, Germany – April 1994 in Camden Town, London, England), was a German actress. Life and career Born in Potsdam near Berlin Walter became a regular member of the cast at the Hamburg Stadttheater in 1923. After a season at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg she moved to Berlin in 1925 after being contracted by the ''Deutsches Künstlertheater Berlin'' (German Artist Theatre Berlin), one of the several Berlin theatres run by successful Jewish theatrical producer . Her usual characters were the ingenue and the soubrette. The following year (1926) her film career started when she was discovered by Reinhold Schünzel. Margot Walter played mainly happy-go-lucky teenage girls in comedies, romantic comedies and farces which were constantly on an insignificant artistic level. Ida Wüst (; 10 October 1884 – 4 October 1958) was a German stage and film actress whose career was prominent in the 1920s and 1930s with Universum Film AG (UFA). Life and career Little is known about Ida Wüst's early childhood. She discovered early the world of theater, and decided to make it her career. After attending secondary school in Frankfurt am Main, Wüst took acting lessons from Thessa Klinghammer and at the age of 16 received her first engagement at the StadtTheatre of Colmar, and further stage productions in Bromberg, and in 1904 performed extensively in Leipzig. In 1907 she became a member of the ensemble of the Lessing-Theater in Berlin, where she performed roles in ''Hosenrollen'' (roles in which women impersonate men in trousers), and comedies and became sought after actress. In 1910, she received an apprenticeship in cello playing and first appeared in small roles with choral engagement at the Berlin Thalia Theater in 1910. In 1912, Weisse became a member of the Royal Belvedere Dresden, with whom she toured all of Germany. The film director Max Mack discovered her that same year, and Weisse signed a contract with the Vitascope film company.
