Babe Comes Home
''Babe Comes Home'' is a 1927 American silent sports comedy film produced and distributed through First National and directed by Ted Wilde. The film is a baseball-styled sports film centering on Babe Ruth and Anna Q. Nilsson. The film was released in the short-lived Vocafilm sound-on-film process, presumably a music and effects soundtrack but no dialogue. The film is considered a lost film. Synopsis Babe Dugan, star player of the Angel baseball team, chews tobacco and gets his uniform dirtier than any other player. Vernie, the laundress who cleans his uniform every week, becomes concerned over his untidiness; Babe calls to apologize for unintentionally striking her with a ball during a game; and his pal, Peewee, falls in love with Vernie's friend, Georgia. On an outing to an amusement park, a roller coaster throws Vernie into Babe's arms; soon they are engaged, and Vernie plans to reform him. Ted Wilde
Ted Wilde (December 16, 1889 – December 17, 1929) was a comedy writer and director during the era of silent movies, though he also directed two talkies released in 1930. He was born in New York City. His initial career was as a member of Harold Lloyd's writing staff. His final film as a director was ''Clancy in Wall Street''. He died of a stroke in Hollywood at the age of 40, and was interred in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, California. Awards He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director of a Comedy Picture, but did not win, in the 1st Academy Awards for the film ''Speedy''. James Gordon (April 23, 1871 – May 12, 1941) was an American silent film actor. He appeared in more than 120 films between 1911 and 1935. He also directed 4 films between 1913 and 1915, including the 1915 film '' The New Adventures of J. Rufus Wallingford''. Gordon was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 23, 1871. He died on May 12, 1941, in Hollywood, California, aged 70, from post-surgical complications. He is buried in Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
